Proud Dad

Post by Kwacky »

Grading tonight at taekwondo.

My son was adjudged by a 9th Dan grand master to have been the best student tonight, both adult and juniors.

Thanks all. He was so chuffed. The look on his face was priceless. He's been after that trophy for 2 years. He's clocked that hard work pays off.

Alex is taking his trophy into school today to show to his mates :)

Unsurprisingly he passed his grading. Just 3 away from his black belt, which I reckon he'll get before he's in secondary school.

That's amazing Kwacky. Who knows what will happen if he carries on like this , he could do a material art at the Olympics in coming years and all the very best to him. He sounds like quite a tough little cookie and is ebjoying the time doing it [SMILING FACE WITH OPEN MOUTH]

What I'm most proud of is his determination to obtain that award. It's eluded him for so long.

The feedback we got was that he had clearly done his homework and practice. He was the only one who passed the Korean language part of the exam with an "excellent" mark. That's kids and adults.

If only the little bugger would apply that to his schoolwork :D

You have to learn Korean for taekwondo. It starts off with the basics but they add more on as you progress. It's not enough to talk the language but you have to understand basic commands and know numbers, movements, body parts etc. I think for black belt grading there are about 200 questions they can ask you.

Wow. Not being funny but as he's learning stuff like this it could be an idea to get him to learn the language , especially as he's young, he will soak it all up and I'm sure that would help in furture. A guy who used to work at our place, his daughter knew different languages, not the usual German French Spanish! She worked at the airport and seemed to travel a fair bit all around Europe on a good salary on her lanauagd skill based job.

That's not a bad idea. I've no idea if he's interested in taking the language further.
