In their defence, when he shouted "i am a therapist", they may have heard "i am the rapist", i mean, they look pretty close .

Hmmmm....because someone already injured has nothing to lose???Itchy wrote:This is what bugs me, if it was accidental why did they handcuff him after he was shot?
Whether or not who was to blame/how much blame was apportioned to either party, etc.
Does it really bug you?? Be honest.....?

Perhaps if he were a non-compliant, coked-up aggressive lunatic.D41 wrote:

Not this man, lying on the floor with his arms in the air, trying to save the life of someone suffering with autism. If it was indeed an accident, they should the so-called victim, then handcuffed him.
Yes. Not as much as you do, but yes.D41 wrote: Does it really bug you?? Be honest.....?
Ususally when I see stories like this I instantly align myself with the police. They have an immeasurably difficult job to do under constant scrutiny and up until very recently all I have seen is people not complying with the law, acting suspiciously, resisting arrest and screaming police brutality.
So my stance was very much along the lines of don't break the law, do as you're told and you will be fine.
That doesn't seem to be the case in this instance.
DEAR GOD! I only came here to kick back and relax, I've become part of it all!

That's a big "perhaps".
And everyone's an expert on Policing except the Police themselves, apparently. I wonder if the local sites are full of quizzical threads about British law enforcement???
Probably not.

The most you get from a British copper is slap round the head, maybe in very extreme cases a taser or pepper spray

Re: Recent shooting in Florida
Well what we're discussing here is pretty extreme...this is NOT normal by any stretch in the US...at least not in this part of it.
Some British Police are armed...but very few. Airport....VIP duties. etc. Me old Dad was telling me about one incident years ago when a weapon was issued to an officer guarding a foreign dignitary.
But no bullets. Figures.

Early in the thread you stated you were waiting for a position on the topic from myself. I gave it. I can't help it if we disagree on the subject, or that you provoked/invited a response. That was your call to make, not mine.Itchy wrote:You really could start a fight in an empty house, couldn't you?

Over a week later you're bringing up a dead thread to get your point across?
Case rested, court adjourned.
Don't worry, I'm sure you can disagree with someone else soon enough. I'll start a rim tape thread for you.
