How many different exercises are you doing Kwackster?Kwacky wrote:Back to strength training following my lay off from the gym, so back on the 5x5
I'm doing 5x5 in the mornings but I only have enough time to get 2 different exercises in, 3 at a push.

I'm managing to do the full routine.
Yesterday was 10 mins cycle warm up, squats, bench press, bent over row, dips and planks.

1 hour? Bloody hell. Before I started getting headaches I used to do no more than 30 minutes and that would batter me.
Great way to get into shape though.

Taekwondo. I've asked for a list of other clubs so I can do a second night.

Shoulders today.
After my right one going all spazzy last week I thought I'd take it easy...
Until my second set where I went heavier than I've been before!
Still, it held up!

Re: The new improved fitness thread
Leg day.
I'm having real trouble with front squats.
It's not the weight that's the problem, I'm only doing 40kg.
I can't get my hands in position without it hurting after 5 or 6 reps. Getting to the 10th rep usually sees me with pins and needles in both arms and my wrists really hurting!
I can't take it on the shoulders either.
I know that with practice I should get used to it, but it's a bit annoying.
Worst case scenario is I use my straps as a sling, but I'd rather get the technique nailed.

Taekwondo is military based, so there's lots of formal stuff like line work and revision of history.
Your patterns look like they're the same as TAGB patterns so look them up on YouTube.

Nice slow 10 mile social run this morning. really enjoyed taking it easy for a change and just enjoying being out in the sun.
Really good company helped.
Then took the kids swimming so knackered now.

Guns today.
Went up in weight this morning and managed it no problem, felt good.
At lunchtime however, had to drop the weight on some exercises. My biceps have no endurance.

Getting some form back on deadlifts.
But that's tempered with my right arm playing up and being really weak.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
5 mile "recovery" trail run on Monday. Quotes because sub 9 minute miles on trails is not my idea of recovery...
Might do something exercise related tomorrow, then have two 10k runs over the weekend.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
A lunchtime meeting scuppered my gym session today, but managed to work around it with my students having PT this afternoon.
Thinking they'd be doing a run or a fitness test or something equally poop, I decided to head down for a cheeky little back session in the weights bay.
Which happened to be right next to the area the students were having their circuit.
Oh well, guess I'm not lifting any light weights then!!!
Still, it spurred me on to equal my old deadlift PB, so that was something.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
so finally started to get back into my running (City2surf in 4 months), only a few on the treadmill so far, but one thing is for sure, my shoes are past their best.
I have been running in Adidas Boost for the last couple of years, but I'd say I've put more than the recommended miles on them. The sole is 50% smooth!
A work mate that runs marathons has recommended Hoka One One's to me. Reviews look good, and I need a cushioning shoe, due to being a terrible heel striker, old knees and general bad form.
Anyone had experience with these or heard good/bad feedback on them?
