ATGATT
Very unfortunate reminder today Slappers... my best friend decided to take his race bike out in his neighborhood for a brief keep-the-fluids-going warm up, not geared up for anything but a brief pootle. Having recently done a track day he had his slow-to-warm race slicks on, and it's a cold day in the American south. As a result, he had a 25 mph high side and badly broke his ankle. Problem is, his employer is Uncle Sam as an elite Special Operations soldier and now his future in that occupation is in doubt as the doctors have told him it's unlikely he'll be able to run again, not to mention three months before he can put weight on it. Keep him in your thoughts and prayers if you're so inclined, but also remember to wear your gear, even for the random pootle. I'll keep y'all informed as I learn more.

Best wishes to your mate. 99% of my riding I have full gear on but have been guilty of popping out in less. Gonna try harder not to do that!

Heres to a speedy recovery, that is a nightmare... I must admit, even for the little run around the block I do put my kit on, for that reason... Poor sod!

Re: ATGATT
Terrible news.
Hope he makes a quick recovery and a full recovery.
Good message to be careful when testing things though Mac. A spill is so easy and it happened to me a few months ago in jeans and T-shirt outside my house testing the brakes.

Re: ATGATT
Thanks for the thoughts, folks. He has surgery scheduled for this morning, the ortho doc told him last night that it was the worst he'd ever seen. I'll let everyone know how that goes.

On a positive note he is getting treated quickly which will hopefully help a quick and full recovery.

Sad to hear. I hope he does recover. He does an important job and that's just bad luck ![Sad Smile :(](./images/smilies/emoticon-0101-sadsmile.gif)

Re: ATGATT
A four hour surgery to insert many pins, another three days in the hospital due to the amount of skin that was torn off the foot, requiring a drain.
Plus a long and painful recovery road.

I hope the journey down that road will be as quick as possible and the injury doesn't cause too many problems with his job...Mac wrote:Plus a long and painful recovery road.
