Today - Work then J&S to spend lots of cash on gear to replace torn stuff... and maybe a few things I "definitely damaged" in the accident and couldn't live without... new bum bag for my phone, wallet and lipstick.
Tonight - Insanity workout, wine (no drinking Sunday-Thurs... I need this)
Tomorrow - *hopefully* collecting my rebuilt bike, then testing out the repairs and my new gear out to Loomies cafe
Sunday - observed ride with TVAM and marking exam papers... booooo

OK......"Australia Day" sounds kinda obvious, so I guess it's like July 4th??....When is it celebrated??? What things typically happen, etc.??

Labor Day is our big one in Orange.....although the Monday itself is usually VERY quiet, the three days before are hectic, mainly because of our street fair.....people come in droves to this thing, and it's only gotten bigger over the years. I'm not good around crowds, so I tend to stay away, or nip down and grab some deep fried Danish bread puffs or sommit.
I used to work the bar at the Scottish Beer Tent.....can you imagine a Geordie taking ID's?? - You look twelve and you can have a beer.....the PD were not so amused.

Cheers mate, it'll be pretty low key being my last day home.

The harbour does put on a good show on NY's and Australia Day.

I'm starting to get a bit more 'into' Australia Day, mainly because I want to foster some national pride in the kids. NZ has it National holiday on the 6 feb (waitangi day, good luck trying to pronounce that you lot! ) and in the past I've caught up with other ex pat kiwis for a beer.

I took massive amounts of pride in becoming a US Citizen.....doesn't mean I'm not proud of being British, but I had the interviews, the fingerprinting, the FBI checks.....plus the money. When people tell me "Hey, I was born here" I'm like "SO FECKING WHAT??"....you didn't have a choice about that you stupid redneck......I'm proud of being a US Citizen....and it's just the little things.....taking The Pledge at a baseball game, stuff like that.

Didn't say I was proud and loud Australian, even though I am a official citizen. I am, and always will be a Kiwi first. I am thankful for the opportunities Aussie had given me, but if things were even economically, I'd be in NZ at the drop of a hat. With the job I have now, I could feasibly live in NZ, but would have to remove my family from their extended family network. And after the up-bringing I had, I am grateful that my kids have a good network around them.

But my children are born here, and I'll ensure they appreciate the fact they are part of this lucky and opportunistic land and show respect and allegiance to their country.

I am a citizen of Australia for my kids benefit but hold dual citizenship of both NZ and Aussie.
