And then when you get to work you find out the company has very little work on for the next month.

Fyi it was a lovely day to commute on two wheels up here Duke, filtering past (hundreds +) of sad & frustrated cagers belching fumes from their semi-static boxes in the long strips of trajic jam.duke63 wrote:When your average speed on the commute home drops below 20mph................
I occasionally proffer them a friendly smile as I pass, never appears to be well received.

Re: What do you want to vent about today?
TBH if I was going to commute on two wheels I would buy a scooter.
That said if work doesn't improve soon I wont need either.

I would have thought your job skills would transfer exceptionally well into the Receivership/Insolvency industry.?duke63 wrote:TBH if I was going to commute on two wheels I would buy a scooter.

Looks set to become the boom industry over the next few years.

Standing in a meeting telling creditors there is no money to pay them what they are due, whilst charging that same insolvent company vast sums for doing next to nothing is not for me.
Anyway I am too old to train and qualify for something new.

Re: What do you want to vent about today?
Excel.
More specifically, creating complex spreadsheets that do your job for you then having to relocate them from C: drive to a network drive based abroad...
2.5hrs to refresh data but as this is a working progress and needs lots of little tweaks I only get to do 3 changes in a working day.
Well last night it decided to cancel the refresh so first thing this morning I'm sat waiting again

Re: What do you want to vent about today?
It's not that big, just complex.
It pulls in 90x 3Mb spreadsheets then does some calculations and analysis. I've then got a table of formulas which further interrogates the data and graphs off the back of that.
It takes about 5 minutes when working on my C: drive, but over the network it takes a fecking age

Sounds like a job for a different program. Just because excel can do it doesn’t mean it’s the best tool for the job.

Only tool I have access to. Just annoying it has to go across the network.
Good news is, the country our site is in has a holiday imminently so I have gained remote access permission in order to perform tasks locally. Fingers are crossed.

Re: What do you want to vent about today?
Exactly. It needs at least a single shared space or remote access space.kiwikrasher wrote:Sounds like a job for a different program. Just because excel can do it doesn’t mean it’s the best tool for the job.

Forth and final Rideout for the year yesterday. Far too cold for this miserable old git.
Have to say as biking years go, 2019 was pants.

Re: What do you want to vent about today?
I think we've all said the same mate. Life keeps getting in the way. Plus my wife has been working a lot of Saturdays which means my only weekend day to myself is a Sunday and I've rarely got time to go out on the bike and do all of the other stuff I need to do.

For completely different reasons but I’d have to totally agree with you.Monty wrote:
