The Nazi party called themselves the "National Socialist German Workers Party" Were they socialist too?
Er...yes - you know this already.

Two sides of the same coin.....your Communist buddies tend towards revolution to bring about change, whereas the National Socialists favour a more gradual shift.
Don't forget that "Nazi" is more a Western term that was used to deride National Socialists more than anything....just as "jew" can have more than one meaning.
Hitler, Himmler, etc. would never, or very rarely at best, use the term themselves.

"Stupid" eh??
I've been called worse, and by better men.

I see Gove is ahead of Johnson in the Tory polls.

it's like trying to decide which poison you want to swallow.

Johnson might well destroy the Party for good. A fair few Tory MPs don't like him at all.

It would be impossible for the Conservatives to be taken seriously in or out of this with BoJo as their leader. Hence I feel career Conservatives will try and dispose of him fairly quickly.

Ref the National Socialists, please for one moment DO NOT think that this in defence of them or the evil they wrought, but I’ve talked to older Germans whose parents and grandparents lived through their era pre 1939, nobody went hungry, if you wanted to work there was a job and the over 65’s were looked after, the party came to power making promises and then fulfilling them completely. If that happened today in the UK, who is to say people like that couldn’t get into power? All most people want is an honest politician that keeps their promises.

Fortunately most of us learn from history, so it’s unlikely to happen, but it is possible.

A number of their early policies such as job creation by building the Autobahn network etc are socialist policies but as I said earlier you don't have to be a socialist to realise that some policies are good for the common good and therefore the nation .

Well yes....they ALL get into office based upon their early policies - which is just a fancy word for "intentions". And then it all turns to $hit.
The autobahns were a good public works project that ensured the Soviets would find an easy route to Berlin, because Lord knows, the Germans themselves never had enough VWs to go around.

Probably very wise.

Hold on a second

Now May is saying she won't step down until her successor has the confidence of the house of commons.

MPs don't want the House to break for summer until the leadership election is dealt with.

The Tories fear a vote of no confidence which would force a general election.

I suspect we may have a GE before 31 October which could signal the end of the Party.

I'm not a fan of party politics , I don't see how your elected representative is representing the electorate when he/she is representing his/her party .
