Rolling down the A34 and all of a sudden the power went, the engine was still keeping the bike moving but any opening of the throttle and it spluttered. I limped it on for about 5 miles to get to some services, but all of a sudden it seemed to sort it's self out. Hatd been fine since, I'm blaming fuel..

I filled up at a station I don't normally use.
Just odd that it should do that and then be fine for the rest of the ride. Back to one of my normal fuel stops today, so I'll keep an eye on it.
Fuel filter is a good thought though. I do tend to run into the reserve on most tanks so maybe a few years of crud is on the move. I'll do some research.

I have to say at nearly 4k these tyres don't look or feel like the have fine through mileage. I'm very impressed. Might need to get a depth guage though as they don't seem to have idiot blocks.

They give great feedback and confidence, especially in the wet. The little grooves you can see generate a decent amount of heat in the tyre, and the tread shifts a hell of a lot of water.
For the vfr they where about £150 for the pair. I know that's budget prices, but they aren't budget quality.

I tried running my finger round three tread a while ago to find them but couldn't. To be fair the tread depth is 8mm when new, so a lump of 1mm isn't going to stand out.
Based on that, beer and finger in the air maths says there's about 2k or so left in that rubber.

Tip for finding the wear indicators Jon, look on the sidewall edge where it Mets the curve of the tyre and the will be a little triangle like arrow. This indicates where they are. Just follow that across the tyre and you should find them no worries.
