A606 and A607 - Melton Mowbray to Grantham
Went to see some friends over the weekend and stopped at a pub in a place called Buckminster. Good weekend but the brucie bonus was that the A606 from Melton Mowbray is a cracking road and a must do on the bike over the summer. And the A607 also.

It is indeed. My KTM dealer was over that way so used to test their demo bikes on those roads if I rememberduke63 wrote:Went to see some friends over the weekend and stopped at a pub in a place called Buckminster. I know we only brake for cake, but did anyone else read Melton Mowbray and think of pork pies whilst reading that or is it just me?duke63 wrote:Went to see some friends over the weekend and stopped at a pub in a place called Buckminster. I used to live in Rutland, it's where I learned to ride. It has so many good roads in the area, used to hit the 606 and 607 quite regularly. B1176 is still my one of my favourites, as recommended by Monty as well.
Need to get back there at some point. This year maybe...

Well, me & Kwacky did. It peed down in the morning but we still had a good time.
And a nice breakfast.

Lol, it was mid-July, I travelled 47 miles to meet Kwacky who had ridden around 80 I think, to go another 35 miles or so to get there.
Rain wasn't a huge part of our plan. I don't particularly cherish riding in the rain. I was cold and wet for the whole morning. And yet 4 years on I can still remember parts of that trip. Riding through water that was at least mid-shin height being one of them!
But yes.
We do need to go back there.

We sat in a garden centre eating our food, looking like we had been rescued from a sinking ship.
A good day out though
