Wembley
Our national stadium is up for sale. The FA has had an offer of £800m which it's considering.
So our national team will no longer have its own ground.
Some people are going to get rich from this deal.

Re: Wembley
Evening Standard is saying England will still be able to play some games there, and some at other venues while the stadium is uprated & brought out of the Dark Ages......it is, afterall, a VERY old venue.

It's 10 years old. Did you check the date of the evening standard report?

Re: Wembley
Its getting much bigger here, Spurs have had a retractable NFL pitch fitted in their new stadium to host games and they were talking about the London NFL team in conjunction with that too.

Every game is pretty much a sell out. Wembley holds over 80,000.D41 wrote:You think the NFL games are popular enough over there to warrant a UK team?

Re: Wembley
You know, for a while there even Los Angeles didn't have an NFL team....the Rams went to St.Louis 20-odd years ago, and the Raiders fcuked off back up to Oakland fairly recently.
It's only now that there's a new stadium for them that the Chargers moved up here from SD....couldn't get a new stadium built down there, apparently.
I'm not really a fan of football...the game makes little sense to me at all.

Re: Wembley
Soccer is rancid with money and this is just another sign of it. Shame as it’s a decent stadium, not the best but definitely the plushest.

Re: Wembley
Another symbol of Britain sold abroad.
Do British people who live in Britain actually own anything?
All that bollocks sold to the masses by Brexiteers will come back to haunt this Nation big time very soon. We own nothing so are completely at the behest of foreign ownership anyway.
Bentley - German
Mini - German
Jaguar- Indian
Wembley - American or something.
Shard - Qatari
Most of London - Anything but British
Railways - French and German Govts
Utilities - Mostly French and German
Its laughable really how people are being conned.

Re: Wembley
How are they being conned??
Someone wants to buy something I have for sale, I'm not about to grill them over where they're from...I care about whether they can pay the price I'm asking or not. What they do with it after that is their business....it's not mine anymore.
Bentley, Mini, Jaguar.....those three companies were all floundering under their past owners, and now they're doing well....people are voting with their wallets.
And the people who sold them...they're simply "following the money", surely??

Re: Wembley
Being conned by Brexit and promoting the 'Britishness' of it all, whilst those who promote that Britishness are the ones milking the sacred cow dry.

That's the problem with Thatcher/Blair's Neoliberal capitalism, eventually you run out of other people stuff to sell.

Re: Wembley
I have. Thatcher/Reagan started it, Blair jumped on the band wagon and Pigfcuker/May have done more of it than all the rest combined.Cav wrote:Add May to the list of names trying to rape the countryMonty wrote:That's the problem with Thatcher/Blair's Neoliberal capitalism, eventually you run out of other people stuff to sell.
