AA renewal. Been with them for around 9 or 10 years and for the past 3 or so years weve been joint cover me and my misses. Each year it goes up and i usually ring them up to ger a discount. My misses refuses to go back with them yhis year as the quote is very high and she says just ger a cheaper breakdown as to be honest we havenr had to use them for the last 2 years and that was only because of my getting 2 flat tyres so needed a lift to a garage with the wheels.
But you know what will happen the yesr i cancel it will be the year we have travelled 300 miles and need a lift back home with the car being towed (relay), many other breakdown services charge per mile but ive added relay every year as i used to travel to the west coast of wales every other month so it was a cheaper option.
Ive always had it as a just in case because although we dont travel together like that as much as i used to we do travel that distance once a year for a little getaway with the dog.
We both have new cars and AA also covers my bike as well which has been handy a fair few times for fuel!
I may cancel our joint membership but carry on for myself as although i havent used it like i said, i just know ill ger a puncture or something and ive always had good service from AA whenever i have needed them.
Im unsure dont fancy going for the insurance breakdown though!! Maybe im just a snob haha
I'm with the RAC and have a very similar policy to you, yes its not cheap but its only a couple of hundred a year for the peace of mind that its there if I need it.
I would never touch insurance backed breakdown, unless it was with one of the big three. I had a very bad couple of experiences a couple of years back that left me on the road side for more than a couple of hours.

I get full European recovery for both me and Sarah included with my bank account for 13 quid a month. It also included travel and gadget insurance and an overdraft. Only ever used it once, but they were really good.
I have a similar policy as Monty with my bank. Worldwide cover for myself and up to 3 additional family members including winter sports. I pay £17/month but also get phone insurance, breakdown cover (including home start) and a few other things I don't use.
Allegedly they don't care about being notified prior to travelling either so long as you don't travel for more than 30days or 3 months (one of those)
We still have a couple weeks to decide. I will ring up the AA and ask for their best quote as i am a fully fledged member with gold cover so have a fair few added options for free included, but i personally want to stay with AA as they are fsntatsic when needed. If its still to much ill ask if i can just become a new member with the usually cheaper quote!

A new tablet since my old one died, a nice Huawei mediatab t2 10". Saw it at about £135 on argos so thought why not, a full HD tablet that size for that price cant be too bad... I did price up an I pad the same size and promptly bought the Huawei...
