I nipped into work at lunchtime to get some documents so I can work from home tomorrow.
It's supposed to be minus 8 tomorrow morning. I'm not driving in that. The roads will be lethal.

Re: What are you doing today ??
Just got back from a quick 25-30 mile bicycle ride.
I think I lost...
1 lung.
2Lbs flab (hopefully).
189 litres of sweat.
All semblance of patience.
I gained..
1 tooth (crown).

Re: What are you doing today ??
Been out shopping today. Grabbed some new PJs, new work tops and some new thermals for when going out on the bike. Then popped over to Sports Direct for some new walking shoes...well for when I take the dog out as my old trainers have had it so decided to go for something of better quality but while I was there I noticed 50% off K Swiss trainers....well it would be rude not to take advantage so I picked up a new pair as well!!

Had some urgent instructions on a case so I've had to drop everything and deal with that.

Been out shopping today as well! Popped to Reading town center. Coh the parking charges are a rip off when you compare it to near by towns. Anyway grabbed some new perfume from John Lewis with a voucher I got from my old work, the price was labelled up and when I went to the till the lady said 'oh there's 10% off This' I thought SCORE!! I also popped into GAME and grabbed FIFA 16, the new FIFA 18 is 50 odd quid, the 17 is 30 quid and 16 was 2 quid well again rude not to it's only couple years out lol!! Successful trip

Arguing with people on twitter who insist that electric cars are "a non-starter".
I'm trying to point out that we've already got them and that's the way the motor industry is going.

Even if there is a revolutionary development of fission or some other power source, it would seem likely that electricity will be the ns to create propulsion.?Kwacky wrote:Arguing with people on twitter who insist that electric cars are "a non-starter".

Unless we find a way of harnessing some sort of repulsion (anti-matter, or something else we have no real concept of yet) electricity seems to be the future.
I think your thread a while ago about driverless vehicles covered this quite well, and threw up some interesting ideas. For example iirc someone pointed out that it may lead the way to vehicle ownership being consigned to history.

it was Duke who talked about the lack of need to own one.
I'm surprised how many of the Tankslap twitter followers are against electric and driverless cars. No doubt they'll be ranting online as soon as the first driverless car hurts a pedestrian.

Re: What are you doing today ??
I think you're right, but that has to be on the decline as younger people become less interested in driving. Most blokes reckon they're a good driver. Handing control over to a computer can't be something they're going to accept easily.

Re: What are you doing today ??
I'd be quite happy to hand over control to the car if it is allowed to drive me home when I'm pissed....
IMO battery powered cars are just next gen problem that is now diesel. A few years back the black stuff was the gift to all motorists, less polluting than petrol and the cars where more economical to run. Well that's all changed now, and I think electric cars will be the same when we have a mountain of dead batteries to get rid of. Battery scrappage tax anyone?
We need a total revolution not evolution.
