Re: Donington Road only - 24th April
Not a lot I can add to Kwackys write up... only to say how surprised I was with the amount of road bikes that arrived on trailers and in vans. For a road bike only TD.
Never been on track before at Donington, So why should must first trip to a new track be any different, yep it rained. Happened at Brands, Silverstone, Almeria... lol, yep even Spain, and now at Donington.
The upside I can get an idea of where I should be going by following the trails ha ha. Too many people falling off right out the gate, i had a few slips, but as the track dried I found out why. I should have paid more attention to the tyres on the bike before embarking on a track day. In short the front tyre was not the correct shape, more like a fifty pence piece. Decided I was not forking out silly money for a tyre just for a couple of sessions, so called it a day early. Watched Kwacky enjoy himself for the remainder.
Never been here before, but would come back again, nice track, NL had a good set up, easy sign on, not to much waffle in the briefing. I will post up a little vid as I did stick the camera on the bike, most of the footage seems to be standing around waiting for the track to open again. However what I do have shows I would need to use some better lines ha ha ha ha, i could see so many places where my line slowed me right up.
All in all I was glad I made the trip and got to have a little ride around the place. Hopefully a little clip to post soon
Oh yes and the ride home was fun, NOT! wet and cold... head down and went for it crap front tyre and all, it was that bad that the bike felt like I was on a rumble strip all the way home.

Kwacky, best track day review ever! Said it before but I'll say it again, you should be writing for a bike mag. Ever though of sending in a piece?

Thanks Kiwi.
I'm sure they have hundreds of people applying to work for bike mags. Plus the wages are crap.
I think I'll stick to the occasional short story for the readers of Tankslap

It's saying it's blocked on copyright grounds. Have you added music?

Good video, Frankie. Has the bike got a turbo boost button?
Looks like there were some nasty gouges/marks in the track coming down Craner.

Re: Donington Road only - 24th April
Great write up and vid Kwacky and Frankie! Thanks to you both.
Apart from the sketchy start and awful ride home it sounds like you two had a great day, Frankie - better luck with the tyre next time! Kwacky - chuffed to bits the bike excelled on track for you, they really are a cracking bike on track!
I've seen the aftermath of crashes in places where they shouldn't happen and often wondered how it happened as well, not sure how some people manage it!
I get the idea of a road-only day it ought to be more low-key with people thinking about the ride home before chucking it at the scenery, but I sympathise to a degree with the pessimists that turn up in a van - having been a victim of an accident at Cadwell that nearly rendered my bike unrideable for the 160 mile trip home with my son on pillion, fortunately I could repair the bike enough to get it roadworthy and we got back ok, but it's not always your stupidity or recklessness that causes an accident - the requests for a space in a van back home with a busted bike are a familiar sound at Trackdays everywhere, I was nearly one of them once and it was the last time I rode my bike to a trackday.

At first glance I thought you where riding with your hand testing on your knee. Lol.

& I thought he was holding his phone in his left hand. I just presumed he was posting up on a Tankslap thread whilst he was waiting to reach the end of the straight.D6Nutz wrote:At first glance I thought you where riding with your hand testing on your knee. Lol.
