I don't, this thread needs explaining to the colonial.

It's. "Shrove Tuesday" over there....everyone eats pancakes that day...and pretty much only on that day. Then tomorrow it's Ash Wednesday and no-one eats anything at all for the next 14 days or sommit.
It's a good reason to leave the place....along with Morris Dancing and other weird stuff.

Right! Makes sense now (even more after a google). I'm a fallen catholic and yet I'd never come across pancake day. Luckily it seems that tradition didn't make it down this way.

Pancake day made childhood bearable! haha..
I had mine on Sunday and couldn't be bothered last night.
a couple with golden syrup, a few with nutella and the mandatory lemon/sugar pancake

I eat them at least once a week, but I'm with you on the Morris Dancing. Fecking weirdos!

Bleargh, the only use for pancakes is patching holes in the ceiling....
I'll have cake!

They don't do them right here.....they're more like 'hotcakes'. Plus I've never really got that whole thing of eating sweet stuff first thing in the AM.Monty wrote:D41 wrote:It's. Coffee and cigarettes is pretty much the perfect breakfast. Or vodka & cigarettes.
Or just cigarettes.

So I was wrong. Pancake Tuesday apparently made it to Aussie just not New Zealand as far as I know. But then it wouldn't be the first time some thing has gone on right under my nose and I've been oblivious.
