TBH it would be sunny day use only. I have the GT Air like you Duke for changeable conditions.

I want a Race Helmet with good venting for summer use only so not too bothered about misting up TBH but good point. Cheers mate.

I think the Veloce comes with Pinlock but not sure on whether tear offs are included as although the visor has the posts fitted its not marketed as a race helmet like the Corsa and Pista

The Lorenzo Rep comes with Pin Lock and a second Dark Visor which is a good deal and safes £40-50 buying a dark tint visor.

I know he has had 2 problems this season. One was misting up which doesn't bother me as it comes with a Pinlock and I will only use in summer so not really an issue, what was the other problem ?

Ooh that is off putting and I was starting to really think seriously about ordering the Lorenzo rep.

I suppose it would be covered under the 5 year warranty though.

Helmet Poll

Post by R1ckster »

I've had 3 HJC rpha10 lids including the monster Ben spies model Matt black with the green monster logo! I must say it the best helmet I've had. BUT make sure it's the RPHA10 plus.. Which I think the Lorenzo model will be. The mouth venting is much better than the non plus version. Apart from that they are identical and weigh nothing.. And very comfortable! Coming with pinlock and usually an extra visor (light tint) makes it a no brainier. Fking awsome helmet without being price into the equation.

For what it's worth I have a shoei lid now but only because I have an ADV lid and like the style and quick release peak (no screwdriver) and can change visors fast.. I see no difference in build quality or comfort between the two. Other than the fact there is an obvious part where your paying a slight premium for the name shoei or arai for sure.

And the forehead venting on the HJC rpha 10 is the best. If opened full it will give your head a deep freeze!! Is the only venting I've experienced that actually works decently

Cheers R1ckster always good to get first hand advice.

I tried one on and very comfy and great fit. And it's very very light as you say.

How effective is the venting ?

Helmet Poll

Haha just updated .. Must have crossed.. The venting is the best I've ever know and better than my current lid.. Seriously the venting will be a big surprise. As it actually bloody works! Very cool to he point you may only open partially most the time

I've also had the above mention Lorenzo X Lite 802 and can say it's nice helmet but would have the HJC easily

I voted AGV as it looks the best with the suit IMO.

That said, I would probably buy the HJC myself. I'm currently using the HJC RPHA-10 (Spies version) and I love it. It isn't as good quality as my Arai, nor as comfortable but it is so light and the vents are so good that the rest can be forgiven.

A mate of mine crashed from 100mph or more in his HJC and it did it's job. He was upright braking when someone took his line and wiped him out. His head hit the floor hard and he didn't even lose consciousness and had no concussion.

He was so happy with how it crashed that he bought another.

You should also consider the Shoei NXR - similar fit to the HJC but a more premium brand.

Yes been looking at shoei nxr too.

AGV veloce is a great spec and a lot of helmet for the buck and like you I reckon it may be the best colour choice with my leathers.

I picked the HJC as I lied the Lorenzo rep but plenty of people giving postive comments and it is amazingly light.

Where did you think it lacked in quality over the Arai Cav ?

The HJC is more flexible at the opening and lacking noise isolation, the popper that keeps the flappy bit of the strap neat broke and the vent wheels and toggle on the nose are poor quality - they still work but they just feel cheap.

Also, not a problem for myself might I add, my mate who uses on is bald and hates that he gets bugs crawling on his head when riding with the vents open!

In the case of the matte paint HJC helmet, do not clean it with anything besides warm water. I used helmet and visor cleaner on my and wore the paint away on the white - it now looks like a dull shade of grey/brown and makes the whole thing look terrible

Cheers for the advice.

I think I'm going to have to flip a coin on this one. Haha. I can't decide between the HJC and the AGV.
