I don't like the sound of that. I'm not worried about the calories it's the thought of mixing doughnuts and meat together.

Re: Double Donut Burger
Mel Wakeman argues: "Why can't they include on the menu what the customer would need to do to burn all those calories off? In the case of this Double Donut Burger, around three hours of continuous running should just about do it. I wonder how many people would still opt for the item knowing this."
What frickin place would do that? What a knob.
I saw something like this on Man vs. Food once. The missus and kids were appalled at the thought of mixing meat and doughnuts.
I, however, have to confess that my curiosity was definitely roused!

Re: Double Donut Burger
Wellllll......every restaurant in CA is required to displayed the nutritional information of every item it offers....it's been that way for about 5 years....personally I think it's pretty f*cking obvious that a double cheeseburger is gonna have more calories than a dinner salad, and if people can't figure that out, they deserve to be lardo fatties.Itchy wrote:Mel Wakeman argues: "Why can't they include on the menu what the customer would need to do to burn all those calories off? I could never eat sommit like that......I watch what I eat very closely, because I have high BP...and because it looks like crap......I don't touch pork anymore, or pretty much anything that is deep-fried, except the occasional piece of cod.
Like I say, I watch what I eat, and it's amazing how much junk crap shite is out there.....tinned foods I can go for, but avoid the frickin' freezer section...I actually gave my freezer away earlier this year, although I still have a small one on top of my super-bastard American fridge.
I'm pretty much just fresh soups and salads these days, and I love it....they take only minutes to make, and I can get all my stuff from the carniceria....that's the stuff they bring up from Mexico, where no-one gives a toss about "hormones" and crap like that

Nutritional info isn't the same as telling you how much cardio you're going to have to do to burn it off though.

Re: Double Donut Burger
I dunno...have you ever tried a half pound proper steak burger, with streaky bacon, and provolone on a brioche bun?
Sweet and savoury together, and it's amazing! Slap a bit of cranberry on there, and jobs a good un.

Is it just me.?
Or (in view of the not so distant history) does it not seem a little ironic that a place specialising in burgers is called the Hungry Horse.

Oh yeah....not arguing mate....no way they could say what each individual would have to do.....posting the info is gonna be about the closest they can get.Itchy wrote:Nutritional info isn't the same as telling you how much cardio you're going to have to do to burn it off though.

Re: Double Donut Burger
I've already had one. Kirspy Kreme, cut in half, with a cheese and bacon burger. You have to be careful as the red hot cheese squashes through the hole into the roof of your mouth when you bite into them.
They are ok, but I prefer things like that seperate. Others loved them though,

Mind you I did used to be a regular at a hungry horse a few years back, the breakfast was something else.

Re: Double Donut Burger
I'm a great believer in we need to stop buying this shit so they stop making this shit.
I'm currently sat in an apartment in the centre of Edinburgh debating what to eat. I'm tempted to not bother lots of fantastic places to eat but having had a BP sandwich for breakfast and a McDs for lunch frankly I feel bloated and nauseous. Yes arguably I shouldn't have had a BP sandwich and a McDs but that was the the only options I had at the time.
I bought a tiffin tin a few weeks ago, just need to find some decent recipes and I think I'm just going to stop eating out.

Re: Double Donut Burger
The problem is not people making food that is bad for us, and its not a problem for us to eat stuff that's bad for us. The problem is decent percentage of people have forgotten that you should only eat junk from time to time.

Re: Double Donut Burger
And too much reliance on convenience foods. Supermarkets are full of rady meals you can make yourself with ease, like cottage pie or lasagne or stews.
30 or 40 years ago we were sold the dream of saving time by not cooking. But what do people do with that spare time? Sit on their arses and watch TV.
I agree with D6Nutz - junk food is fine but it's a treat.

Re: Double Donut Burger
Your relationship with food has to change as you get older as it has more impact on your health.
I suspect a good proportion of teenagers now will never see much past 50 years old simply because of their diet and lack of exercise. Government has allowed 'food' manufacturers to sell any old shite and label it as food.

I honestly can't eat it....it's been at least a year since I've gone to one of those places, and long may that continue.
