I enjoy a challenge but when stuff that's supposed to exist doesn't exist I get pissed off quick haha. I've saved that lesson for the day I actually need it, I was just trying to stay ahead of that particular curve.

Oh and FYI, I had gotten 260 miles on 2 bars of fuel (quarter of the tank) then it dropped to half a tank over the next 20 miles. Wonderful! Average for the tank is still high 43s.
Sounds about right. I get about 45-50 on average. On a long run it does 55.
I get 51 in the morning and 57 on the way home (6 miles each way), it's the wife and trips to the supermarket that kill it

Just took the car for it's MOT, I know about the 6 month extension but I wanted it done anyway, passed with no advisories 8)

Now I'm back home eating fruit to try to keep my weight down and waiting for parcels to arrive.

Flying off to Darwin this morning, hopefully. They had some issues with one of the helicopters yesterday and we all know how my luck had been lately (lol)

Isn't that the unfortunate truth.

I hope for change for all of us to be honest.

As an Engineer I obviously think firstly about quality and making sure what I choose actually does the job but I also make sure I part share and minimise number of different parts. Then management get involved and there's further cost reduction but I personally never opt to buy from China.

The times I've been involved with project containing Chinese parts have been riddled with problems and failures always start from the cheap component.

I realised I blabbered..

I meant to say I make cost savings through design decisions so that I can stay under budget and use better quality parts. I've never had a ground-up design fail.

CSWP (Solidworks Professional) exam completed. I thankfully passed the 2 other exams meaning I only need to resit Segment 1 in 2 weeks time.

I scraped a pass on Segment 2 by scoring the exam pass mark. A pass is a pass a the end of the day.

Right, lunch then back to modelling pipework.

A mixed day so far, shopping for my parents followed by getting the jump leads out and starting my neighbors Qashqai diesel... From a Citroen C1, it looked comical to me.

After that I have had a tinker with the bike and agreed to fit heated grips to another neighbors bike, it's a black version of mine so should be easy enough.

Fixed the wife's phone.

She dropped it last year and well and truly buggered the screen, not just cracked but shattered. The only thing holding it together was the screen film that she likes to leave on for as long as possible.

A chance (socially distant) encounter with someone who repaired phones before the lockdown revealed that her model wasn't too hard to do. So a look on ebay, a skwiz on YouTube and here we are...
Screenshot_20200424_223129.jpg
The screen was 33 quid. The tools that came with it were... well, the 3 screwdrivers didn't fit anything, and the plastic tool used to separate the phone casing snapped within seconds.
But I struggled on and a couple of hours later her phone was back together and working perfectly.

Felt quite good as the missus is immensely pleased.

And the broken glass only cut me once!

Nice one. It's always satisfying fixing something.

Personally I always use the tempered glass protectors. Saved mine and the wife's phone more than once.

It's 100F here right now. There's absolutely nothing to do but grin & bear it. I'm two showers in, and I predict a third one this evening. Feckin' ridiculous heat.

Will be sanding down a window ledge today inside our bedroom. When we decorated last my misses managed to pour gloss paint all over it thickly which wrinkled and someone put a glass or something on top of it while still wet so made a nice hoop indent into it. Been years now but we are redoing the bedroom so I have to sand it down and restart!

Take the dog out for a few walks.

Cook tea

Not much more than that really
