That is what it's all about imho.duke63 wrote:... Not the slowest nor the fastest but huge fun.
A good track day is one where you enjoy it & get home in one piece.
Good to hear it's running smoothly now.

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
Well I've had a hoot so far, really clicked this morning never got passed once the old girl was doing brilliantly.
I had a couple of false neutrals this morning but the first session after lunch I couldn't find a Gear at all when going down the box and run off track , luckily silverstone is a huge circuit.
I'm calling it a day I think there's something amiss with the gearbox
I'll send it over to Louigi Moto to have a look. This is her last track day anyway.

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
Well just got back and feel as stiff as a wankers hanky already had a great day even though it finished early , I need to let Louigi moto have a look at it and check it over, I think theres a problem with the gearbox....we'll see. Managed to bump into Duke a couple of times his bike is looking lovely
there was some real exotica there today the 1299 superleggera with the WSBK exhaust system on it was quite nice for £75k worth. few desmos as well, there was one in my garage that hadn't been out of his shed for 5 years, no fecking wonder the sound it made
All in all a great day and looking forward to next year, may do that bon my Multi for a change as the 999 is being retired from track duties. I have other plans for a track bike.
The 600rr I took to Almeria isn't for me so I will be selling it on, I just need to fit sprockets and fan.
Only one red flag all day and it happened right in font of me, managed to slam on the anchors to miss the bikes then i thought i was going to run the stupid sod over but he kept on rolling and i missed him. there was about 5-6 of us going round the corner on the racing line onto the new finishing line straight and this Panigale appeared on the inside and had nowhere to go and took out the bikes in front of me !! what a twat !!

Seems like i may have a more serious issue with mine too. Water appears to be getting into the oil.
Other than that it was a really good day and enjoyed my first day on track for some years.

Doing some reading up it seems the water pump seal is the place to start. Hopefully its that simple.

Well That would certainly be better than the cylinder head gaskets that seemed symptomatic of your issues.duke63 wrote:Doing some reading up it seems the water pump seal is the place to start. Hopefully its that simple.
Fingers crossed Duke.

The older it gets the more I seem to like the 999.
Yours looks like a proper chuffing full fat race bike

Kingfixer's bike is a thing of beauty and it does indeed look like a full on racebike.

The 999 got slagged off at the time because it wasn't a 916/996 copy.

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
Isnt the lap record round cadwell in BSB still Haslam on a 999 from about 15 years ago? I know it stood for an unbelievably long time, obviously was closer to WSBK back then with electrickery but still shows how good that bike was/is!
edit
Just looked it up, Haslam held it from 2007 on a 999 Airwaves Ducati, and only beat it last year himself on his zx-10, so 9 years is pretty impressive

Remember: If in Doubt use Full Throttle, It may not make the situation any better, But it will end the suspense...

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
He beat it in 14 in terms of outright lap record in a qualifying session, Haslams was race lap record, he has since beaten Shakeys and his own records I think, actually quite hard finding the exact details in terms of which sessions they were set.

999 holds the record for number of wins in WSBK I believe. TBH it looks better in race bike trim than road trim.

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
It's a new build and probably needs a few fasteners torquing up after it's been brought up to temperature
The block will have gone through a few expansion cycles

Going to have a look myself first. No cash left in the bike saving tin at the moment.rocket wrote:Hope its an easy fix duke !! are you letting Jhp have a look at it ??
If its the water pump i reckon i could do that myself.
