This is a thread for when you're doing mini projects, undeserving of their own thread but with nowhere else to put it.

We've started on Baby Cav's nursery now. Wallpaper is all stripped and the skirting boards removed. Next up, add another double socket to the room and also fit a fused unswitched spur plug for the security light. I'll also be changing the dining room lights (directly below the nursery) once I've ripped up the old bedroom flooring. The job I'm looking forward to the least is moving the radiator.

Gone is the strip light and in its place are 3 individual Pendant lights.

Hardest part of the job? Lifting the bloody floor board!

Let's hope in 3 years time Baby Cav isn't doing a Tarzan with those

That's because it's pre-existing unfortunately.

Honestly, the amount of electrics I've had to put right since we've moved in and the sheer number of loose connections in plugs, I'm amazed this house never burned down.

If Baby Cav is old enough to do that, Baby Cav is old enough to sleep in the garden as their consequence!

The old bulky mercury discharge tube fitting (that imho rather detracts from your images, as it appears in the reflected view of the kitchen) will not start as instantly, uses more electricity & has that boxy casing that becomes an insect graveyard. By comparison the newer LED ones are neat, sealed, more efficient, instant start & even available in fashionable "daylight effect" colour temp' if that's your preference.

I appreciate the link. I really like the flat panels but feel it isn't right for the kitchen. This is more up our street. The wife likes the ones with 3 arms and numerous spot lights but I strongly oppose that type of fitting. Not just for appearance but also distribution of light.

We like cool light downstairs (although we can change colour temp on all our smart bulbs) and typically warmer lights in the bedrooms. I'm considering replacing our cool landing bulb with a brighter but warmer bulb.

Looking good. Has a clean, Scandinavian look to it overall, and looks relatively easy to keep clean.

Personally I'd have gone for blackout blinds, can't see those ones blocking out much daylight at nap time
