Finally got it out for a quick hour ride.

This bike is my new favourite child

She pulls with such a flat but punchy torque curve that I hit the limiter a few times as the power is so linear you don’t even realise you are nearly at the 7K redline.

But you don’t need to rev it, max torque is about 4500-5000 rpm, and short shifting doesn’t slow you down much.

About 15 mins in I put it in Sport mode from road, 3rd gear doing about 80 km, have select, engage clutch, throttle off... which turned into full throttle and drop clutch with sport engaged and she momentarily lifted the front . Just a solid useable engine, doesn’t feel any slower than the Multi even though it’s 50 BHP down. And because it’s light and nimble, I already reckon I’m going quicker on this on my favourite windy roads, and it’s got heaps more tyre and engine to go.

This thing just goes where you point it. Very responsive to changes in direction, yet highly stable as well.

Brakes are awesome, suspension probably needs a bit of a soften, perfect on smooth roads but was pretty harsh on a bumpy few sections.

This bike is everything I hoped it would be, I’m super happy with it

Took it out for a couple of hours today, don’t mean to brag, but it is a cloudless sunny day in the high 20’s. Almost perfect.

The bloody torque is so linear for the first 20 mins I kept hitting the limiter as it just pulls all the way and you don’t feel the taper off that usually gives you a hint to shift. I have picked there is a very slight note change near redline so rest of the ride I wasn’t getting to the limiter.

On the way back home a couple of blokes in their 70’s were broken down on the side of the road. So I stopped to see if I could help. It was an old MGB so I thought I had half a chance of being helpful.

Quickly found the power wire to the coil had snapped off the terminal. Unfortunately they had no tools and although I could hold it against the terminal and start the car, there was no way of securing it, I couldn’t even strip the insulation.

But they had a tow already on its way and where happy that I’d found it was an easy fix.

Then took me 15 mins to get going because they wanted to talk about the bike

I’ve had nothing but good comments on the girl. She’s a real head turner.

I would've if I could've reached that deep into engine bay with my boof head Maybe if they were 20 something hot lasses I would've tried harder

The Germans make some lovely custom bikes using Triumphs. Some of the Speed Triples I've seen over the years have been stunning.

A bit of research and I’ve found that there is a bolt on kit available that doubles the HP and torque. A further kit that also includes low comp pistons and takes it even higher.

But that metal fabricated fairing was a work of art! Definitely some great custom work on that project.

Think i might have linked this website before, but they do make some decent affordable stuff that improves the way these bikes run.
