Dave Wood racing did my suspension set up for 60 quid but its a ride in and go back when you want it twiddling again service
It feels better on B roads now much more compliant

Suspension twiddling isn’t rocket science but it does need some thinking about to understand it. And what works for one person and one ride might not work elsewhere. I’ll link up the vid of Dovi and his crew chief later. Even they don’t always get it right straight away and what works at one track will be nowhere near at another.

Yes and No Duke.. no 1 setup will suit all riders but the changes made relative to ones setup will be nearly identical for all.

For example, if the forks are bottoming out under heavy braking and you still have free sag and adjustment left, you add preload to change the dynamic ride height and geometry.

Suspension is so simple yet so difficult

Preload only has one purpose first and foremost. To ensure the suspension is working within its two extremes and not topping out or bottoming out. Yes you can play with ride height within that but there shouldn’t be much to play with. Track riding is slightly different because they are mostly smooth surfaces but the principle is the same.

On the surface yes, but there have been a few racing instances where Dave has explained he would normally do a compression change but because the bike is also ploughing through a sweeping corner he'll add preload instead.

Things like that are why suspension is so simple yet so complex. It's brilliant haha.

I do think the road is harder to setup for though which is why you pretty much just get a base setup and leave it at that. It's never going to be perfect

K Tech rebuilt my standard shock and forks on my old GSXR750 which really became a road legal track bike ,the oil weight valves and spings were matched to my weight in my full kit
It was sublime to ride ,night and day difference and felt so planted and confidence inspiring hard on the brakes, ive said it before I had an Ohlins TTX shock on my ZX10r and it felt no different complete waste of money.
Set up is everything

I would if I could, but the 1299 is worth more than a low mileage Tuono and very few deals will px a higher value bike.
