There are a lot of guppy fry in the tank. I can't work out if they both gave birth or just one of them. Birthing and/or attacks from the two males could be to blame. Maybe they were stressed out.
That’s really sad ☹️

Seems to be a bad time for guppies at the moment. A few of mine have white spots, I've ordered some treatment and raised the temperature a bit. This seems to help according to some reading.

Treatment in yesterday along with aquarium salt, but they're dropping like flies.

There's nothing wrong with the water parameters, and the mollies and guarmies seen fine. Just the guppies that are affected. The ones that have died don't seem to have anything on them, I'm at a total loss as to what to do.

That's crap news mate. Just keep doing what you're doing. I've had an inch breakout in the past. It took a week to clear.

Been watching the tank today, one of the gourami is chasing and killing the guppies. Between that and the ich outbreak, that I'm sure they brought, I have 1 left out of 10.

So much for community fish, even the mollies are in hiding now.

What's the plan, take the gourami back and kick up a fuss? They should have warned you about the possible risk if they sold you a male gourami. They can get territorial if they want to breed.

I think that's the plan. They said peaceful and would live alongside, no mention of aggression.

Think I'll be trying an exchange to rebuild the guppy community.

So, for the last 24 hours the gurami had calmed down. There is one guppy left but it's being left alone.

Spoke to the shop and they said they would give a refund. I'll give it until midweek and see.

Because of the itch the suggestion was not to add any new fish, so bought a couple of new plants instead.

This pair have been squabbling. It's been entertaining watching them chase each other around the tank. Google reckons it's courtship behaviour.

So with 2 rounds of treatment the ich is gone, for now.

More guppies have been added, mixed gender this time. So far life in the tank seems pretty peaceful. Image

Nice.

The extra plants have given the fish places to hide out, the guppies aren't so bothered but the gurami do like a game of hide and seek.Image

The guppies may not have been so bothered, but the platty's loved the new plants so much that they ate them both... Bloody things..

So, aquatic gardening take 2 and dinner slightly more robust plants.

I'm happy with the way the tank looks, and everyone is getting along fine. I'm going to leave things as is for a while and let the community mature. There are a few babies swimming around as well.Image

Other hobby update, photography (and soppy post warning)

In jack's last month's, and while he was still able to use a camera, we both bought the same camera. For the track he also bought one of the best lenses you can get for the camera, but it was way out of my price range. Knowing how much I liked the lens, during the last weeks of his life he sold it to me. It's now my primary wildlife lens, and it's stunning. So for me at least, every photo I share also shares a little bit of his memory.

Cheers buddy.

I got a new pair of fish yesterday. It's not the greatest of photos but he's a bit shy.
