Do you know that I have not even had brexit cross my mind for 14 days now. I live in France so it should be in my thoughts that fellow Englishmen are having to put up with it, but. I decided to holiday here in France so took my R1250RS with the GF on her S1000XR and caught a ferry to Corsica. 700 kms to the ferry in Toulon and 700 kms back.
The island of Corsica is a bikers paradise, twisty mountain roads in the middle with long empty sandy beaches all the war around.
I now have hours of Gopro video to play with and even watching that is not needed to persuade me to return.
Cannot remember any UK biking trip that was as good as this was.

Not to sure why, but there seem to be very few Brits who visit Corsica. It is a bikers paradise, and just about every French biker that I know has been there for the roads. There were plenty of Germans and Austrians too. Given that the island belonged to Italy till about 1850, there were a few Italian bikes too.
If you look at the place on a map then you will find it is in a nice place in the Med with mild temperatures all the year round. The roads are fantastic, bendy going up into the centre and bendy coming back down. Surfaces were good, but there are free roaming cows around, and they do leave slippery brown patches in places.
I was inspired to go there by a French biker mate, and it was the best choice compared with my other options which were: Around the Iberian peninsular - Spain and Portugal, or across France to go around Switzerland clockwise.

1768. That is apparently when Corsica became part of France - I had to look it up, because mid-19th century seemed way too late & I remember that Napoleon was a Corsican, and it appears he was born just shortly after the island changed hands.
Other than that I know nothing of the place.
