The second half of the year will brutal economically and employment wise with covid payments stopping and brexit biting.

There is going to be the sort of changes to the UK economy we saw in the early Thatcher years with complete industries wiped out or just a very small part of what they used to be. Fishing will be one of those ironically.

Tyres for our bikes imported from the EU are now subject to 4% import duty plus 20% vat on that duty. So a 5% increase. Inflation will be out of control by the middle if the year.

The main point I get from that article is buying cheapest isn't the best thing to do.

I've long argued that it's better to pay a little bit more, if it means you're supporting a small business, or a local business, or a business with good customer support. For me knowledgeable and supportive staff can be invaluable. I've bought cheap in the past from overseas and it has backfired when I've needed to make a return. On the flip side, I've bought stuff from UK shops and it's paid off when I've needed their help. I've had stuff repaired or replaced quickly and sometimes out of warranty.

A lot of people are saying we should buy British to help make Brexit work. But far too many people rely on huge corporations (many of which don't pay tax and aren't very good with their staff) because they're the cheapest.

I don't see this is as a Brexit issue. For far too long the customer has been told that price is the key factor. It's why our food is pumped full of shit.

That is exactly what I think. I am lucky in that I got out years ago and now live in France. It is very easy to laugh at the twats complaining about stuff now after getting their sovereignty back. If a few cheese makers go bust, so what, they or their employees are amongst the 17 million who wanted out.

There are far too many people on motorcycle forums trying to find something good in this brexit lark. They seem to think that people will now buy British, but the nature of being on a bike forum means that they are happy to buy a foreign bike. Even Triumph are now made overseas. What about the car that they drive, will that be British? Perhaps they drive a Sunderland built Nissan, where do those profits go?
Perhaps if all bike, car and electronics manufacturers stop importing stuff into the UK then the brexiteers can see what they really have left.

There were a lot of pro-Brexit posters on here. Only a couple have stayed. The rest ran out of excuses and "it's not happened yet" excuses"

I'm still waiting for anyone who supported the decision to leave to show me the advantages of Brexit. Any issues you raised before we dismissed with screams of "Project Fear". Once the vote passed they were quick to tell us about the sunlit uploads, the billions we'll not only save by not paying EU fees but the billions more we'll make from all of the new and lucrative deals the EU stopped us from having.

The public were lied to. Millions will suffer as a result. The rich will benefit. The country will decline. No one will be held to account.

While brexit is in the news daily, the French people in my area either have not heard of it, or don't even know if it has happened yet.
