Got my start date this afternoon too, because they're so busy over Christmas they're doing it backwards, sending me for Class 1 training / Test first and then doing my induction and training before sending me out with a buddy driver to make sure everything's okay, then another assessment in the class 1, and finally I will be out on my own in the big stuff on the night shift.

Training starts on 10/01/22, So I will hand my notice in on Monday, last day Christmas Eve and 2 weeks off

Thanks fellas, I'm really looking forward to being able to book holidays to suit myself rather than having to deal with my place on a holiday rota... The money will also be very nice to afford those holidays.

I bet handing in that notice and not having to deal with general public at high levels on a day to day basis are going to feel very liberating!!

Well after bashing my company on here recently I have to give credit where credit is due.

Received an email this morning saying with the move to home isolation rather than qovt. quarantine periods that the company will pay overtime rates while in home isolation

It’s only an interim measure as different states have different requirements, eg NSW (which is me) is only 72 hrs iso and neg test, where other states are 1 or 2 weeks home iso. So to make it fair across the board, until all the states come online with the 72 hr iso requirement (all vax level dependant) home iso will be paid.

Far credit, I wasn’t expecting that and it’s something the previous company didn’t do. I do think it is an move to retain personnel as we are already at dangerously low levels of manning now.

It's taken a year to get to this point with having to sort my finances first, then some virus related delays in the DVLA

But I have just been chatting with a friend who works there, he is on the shift pattern I want and was trained up to class 1 within his first month, he's taking home about £800-£1K a month more than I am on the buses.. If I had needed an extra kick in the ass to get it done then that would be it

It's Wednesday lunchtime.

My boss is off until the new year

I've run out of work.

I've got 2 1/2 days left.

My manager's have already said that they want to see me on my last day for a discussion, but in the meantime I had a nice email conversation with my new employer's admin to tidy up some final details like my NI number.
They have sent me a conditional contract and will be sending the full contact over for my signature in the coming days..

Just the basic class 2 daytime rate is £4k more than I'm getting now
