I know there have been a few new bike threads recently, but this will be the last one from me for a while. The last couple of days have shown me that this one is a keeper.

It's the Sport SE model so has all the toys. ABS, traction control, anti wheelie, anti stoppie, cruise control, heated grips, DRL, auto headlights, quick shifter, auto blipper, 4 rider modes, fully electric suspension... I've never had such a high tech bike, but the best bit is it's all very user friendly and not as intimidating as it sounds.

As a ride, I'm sure I'll find some niggles over time, but generally it's an absolute peach. For long boring dusk carriageway and motorway, road mode is just perfect. Full access to the power but with a softened throttle response, coupled with cruise control it's an absolute mile muncher.

With the engine and suspension in dynamic however it's out to hunt sports bikes, and it will do it, and will....

Anyway, for me. Collection mileage 11400, tyres michilen pr5 pretty new.

Sounds awesome and all the toys nice one, hadn't even heard of stopped stopping tbh and what is DRL? Not familiar with that either.

Electronics really is the biggest area of bike development.

Tbh Nutz I know you didnt have the VFR long but when I read 10000 miles I thought that's 2 or 3 years riding for most people. Not surprised you want something nice to enjoy, seeing as your spending so much time on it

Yep, it's an optional extra on the bike I think though.

It's a vertical strip between the lights, combined with the hazards it does a great job a parting the traffic

They are an amazing bike, have fun with it D6!
I didn't buy one when I was looking at the KTM because it was one of the 'buzzy' ones and i was in Dynamic Pro, it made riding like a Jeremy Hunt way too easy and I pictured my license getting shredded... I still keep thinking about one...

On the road if I poke the big KTM with a stick it would probably go toe to toe with the XR, it just has a less frantic feel about it... I need another ride on the XR, just to be sure

It's funny, I thought quite the opposite.

The ktm seemed always "on"and made me ride like s twat. Yet the BMW is Street is perfectly sane. I've not tried dynamic pro yet as the demo bike had it disabled and from reading the hand book there is no change in power or throttle response between dynamic and Pro just a lack of aids in Pro.

Mine's a 17 model and does have a buzz at certain revs, on thing the vfr taught me is to stop moaning about it and don't ride at those revs.

Defo seems the right bike for you Nutz. Only question I ask is how often will you change if you are doing 10k miles in a short succession of time? I realise contracts come and go and with that travel can go up or down but if you stay at this office for 2 or 3 years that will be pretty high mileage and potentially high running costs if you are planning to get service done by dealers etc?

I'm planning on keeping it for 3 years as that's the PCP deal.

As it's BMW approved it has to be serviced by them to keep the 2 year warranty and approved status. Yes this will not be cheap, but I need reliable so this is the price I've chosen to pay.

PCP is a good way of doing it to be honest. With your mileage too at least you know what it will be worth after the 3 years. Yes defo something to factor in with the services but it is worth it, personally I wouldn't buy a bike without taking it back to the dealers for a full health check by trained pros. I think you made a good choice. With the warranty too it will protect you for much of its life

Humm, interesting question. I don't know, but I would guess that as long as it doesn't invalidate the warranty then it's fine.

I mentioned replacing the end can in the dealers and nothing was said against it.

Not sure that I will do many mods to be honest, the sound is good enough. I may up the headlight bulbs, horn, and get a different screen.

6k and annual, but they'll do the annual at the same time as one of the other services it you time it right. It could come round every 15 weeks.

I'm going to stop thinking about it now.
