I’m sure one of the reasons Aprilia don’t sell many bikes is the awful paint schemes they use.

The Tuono was available in a decent blue scheme and the best of all was the yellow on the earlier bikes.

The worst thing about Aprilia's is indeed the paint schemes. That said, the latest grey/black scheme is lovely.

Why???

Is it a big step up in cash, what's the upgrade over a 2016MY?

Faster, lighter, upgraded electronics, more bling, 10bhp more, upgraded suspension, torque much sooner in the rev range, fancy screen.

You should work in Triumph marketing (lol) you make it sound a huge upgrade over the 2016 bike, but tbh the only thing jumping out at me is the 2018 bike has a tft screen, which is a nice to have, but not worth £3-4000 over a tidy used 2016 bike (blush)

Cant see it being any quicker or lighter in the real world and the suspension is the same on the 2016 R as the 2018 RS I read somewhere.

2016 was a big upgrade with ride by wire, TC and rider modes etc, so I reckon that's worth having over a 2012MY bike.

What's the extra bling, had missed that?

Yeah, but you replace the rear suspension regardless :P

Is the 16 a 765 or a 675? If so, £3-4k to go for a 765 is 100% worth it. I couldn't keep up with a 765 below 120-130mph at Portimao and the difference would be even larger on the road

It's a 1050 (giggle)

I think Cav is struggling with identifying triples syndrome

Aprilia seem to favour schemes that are a touch gaudy. They're like a hooker at a wedding.
I always like the way they break up "Aprilia" to read "Ap i ia" or sommit across the bike.

I don't think they age well. I used to love the Bol D’Or RSV, but now it looks shit.

This, however is stunning!

I want a bike for all weathers which is comfy, reliable, good for the odd Euro road trip or trackday and capable of carrying an occasional pillion.

Sadly as fun as Aprilla V4 bikes are to ride ( test rode rsv4 and tuono) they fall short of a few of my criteria (blush)

Fireblade
KTM superduke or GT
MT 10

If you want the pillion to stay on the bike I would rule out the 1290 superduke, but the GT would fit the bill. It's a huge hoot, just not refined enough for a daily commute with traffic.

The big versys should also get a mention, the new one is a great bike and would do the distance as well as 2 up with ease.

Blade is a good shout and an awesome do it all sportsbike but I don't want a sportsbike this time.

KTM SDGT awesome suggestion and want a test ride but tbh don't want another vtwin so would have to be buttery smooth and not sure ktm have that reputation. Still a test ride is worthy and will be enjoyed.

MT10, I've read a few negative reviews tbh and it doesn't help that it fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down. Plus thinking ahead this purchase is intended to be a relative long term purchase and the bike after this one which would be to replace the 1299 will most likely be the superb R1M so don't need 2 cross plane Yamahas.

You've already decided on the 1050, haven't you? :)
