The A82 runs between Glasgow and Fort William and its about 110 miles. Its a beautiful twisty road running alongside the Lochs and beautiful mountains. I,ve driven through it but I,d love to do it on the bike too.

I,ll have to do that some time in the summer. If anyone would be interested then suggest some days to organise the event to put it on the calender. I reckon it will need 3 or 4 or overnight stay to enjoy the event properly.

Yep, that’s Glencoe in the distance. Cracking road, but very busy when we went last August.

I've driven it ... lovely countryside.

Plan to do it on the bike at some point , maybe this year but I'm not one to plan too far in the future so it'd be more of a spur of the moment thing .

Still can't decide whether I'd camp or go the b&b route .... or chuck the bike in the van and use that as a base

When we went ,we based ourselves in Dumbarton which with hindsight I'd have stayed 1 night there and then another b&b further into the highlands ..... Maybe even stay another night in Dumbarton on the return journey before heading home.

I'd recommend staying in Applecross, great base to explore the highlands from and a cracking pub to eat at at night. One of the nicest places I've ever sat and eaten at.
It was that good we stayed an extra night and did Applecross to Buxton in one day. My mate made it to South Wales, but he was on a GS, not a 600 super sport.

Any one of those options would be great.

We wild camped for 4 nights, campsite for 3 nights and had one night in a hotel. Wild camping was the most fun, but you can't leave you stuff and packing up and setting up every day is a bit of a pain. The 3 nights on a campsite in Applecross meant we could leave all our stuff and have a proper blast around the Highlands.

My suggestion would be if you have a van lets stick both bikes in it and share the fuel costs up to Glasgow. Abandon the van in Glasgow some where safe and ride the A82. I'm not into planning in advance either and its better to wait and see what the weather is gonna be like and then go.

I think one night stay in Glasgow is a must on the way up, then a couple of nights in Fort William to go up and down the A82 at least a couple of times. Then down to Glasgow again pick up the van and head home with a possible overnight stay again in Glasgow on the way down. We could stay in b and b for 3 or 4 nights.

Them pics look lovely. So many trips i want to do but it just wont happen just yet. Still need to go over to Isle of Man with the TS crew!

Im originally from Glencoe area. Ive done this run plenty, and i still enjoy it. There is a bikers stop at the green welly at Tyndrum, and always full with bikes. If your dates suit mine, i could do part of the journey with you. Applecross is miles away. another days riding.

This summer I,ve gotta do the A82 in Scotland plus A483 in Wales plus some other Twisty roads around south Wales that Monty knows about. Its gonna be a very good summer. ;-)
