I watched the programme on BBC about it last night - on again tonight too.

This is just the tip of the iceberg.

Revolution may be the only way - the laws need replacing and the government needs replacing too. To become someone in power you should have to be audited completely.

Because they either make the laws themselves or buy influence to make sure no one else changes the laws.

Whilst I utterly agree that the situation needs sorting, wouldn't revolution on the scale that you propose would equate to global civil war.?
Furthermore I expect that the side with the best paid forces & most expensive & efficient weapon systems wouldn't be the masses.??

But would the troops turn on the civilians?

I believe you will find that very few armies have any soldiers that are afforded autonomous decisions mate.?

So you reckon members of HM Armed Forces would open fire on unarmed UK citizens and their commanding officers would give those orders?

No they wouldn't , which is why there have been moves to create an EU army so they can use french/german/spanish/italian troops over here and british troops elsewhere , its what the romans did - forces conscipted in britain fought in syria and germany and there were a legion of boatmen from Baghdad in Newcastle

I wouldn't want violence, but also the government systems we have need total replacement. They could have an amnesty on those in power not been prosecuted, so long as they handed over the power.

I have to say i haven't thought it through, however something needs to give. Utter piss take and has been for many years.

Whilst the masses have suffered austerity, no money for schools, policing and operations in hospitals, government employed staff having had no pay rises for years, everyone being told you cant retire on the State until you are nearly dead, yet these people who own multiple houses in the poshest places in the world, yachts, evens islands refuse to pay tax on their earnings.

I agree with Cookie. The whole corrupt system needs sweeping away and replacing with something that truly represents those who vote them into power.

That's as maybe....doesn't alter the fact that it's still legal....you can't prosecute someone for taking full advantage of the laws to their benefit...that's what they're there for.
It's splitting hairs between what's legal & what's moral, and while everyone's morals differ, the laws remain constant

No one is saying it isn't legal

No one is saying people need to be prosecuted.

What people are saying is that the system needs to change

Change to what?? Fine to say the system is broken, but to offer no alternative does bugger all.

I spend all my time charging people to calculate the correct amount of tax to pay yet these feckers are abusing the system.

Its legal because its allowed to go on. That doesn't make it right.

Not easy anymore.

Not unless you are very wealthy and can afford offshore companies and the advisers who set up and manage all this.

That said the Halls of Residence that my son attended at Uni last year changed hands three times in the 12 months he was there and each time it moved to yet another offshore company. How a Govt that claims the country is broke, allows that to continue is beyond me.

They want to provide student accommodation in the UK then the company should be based in and pay tax in the UK. Simple to change.

Think on that the £6,000 he paid in rent went straight out of the Country and the income was not taxed in the UK yet the debt on that remains within the UK. Multiply that by the number of students in the UK.

No wonder the Country is broke.
