Good article about Marquez and his riding style

Post by Kwacky »

http://www.motorsportmagazine.com/opini ... knife-edge" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

All of racing – if you are anywhere near the front – is a knife edge. And the closer you get to the front, the sharper that knife edge becomes. MotoGP is a razor edge, sharpened to the point where any normal person will bleed if they even dare touch the blade. MotoGP is not a forgiving environment, no matter how easy it looks through the lens of the television cameras. Despite all the smiles, the sponsor meet-and-greets, the armies of PR people marching this way and that, it is a mean, vicious and pitiless sport. Like cage fighting, but at 200 miles an hour.

Yes...very good article, although I think the journo fancies himself up for a Pulitzer.

Marquez has upped the bar to be sure...as he should. Rossi's sour grapes are understandable IMO....his career is coming to a close...it cannot be easy for him. Not condoning him, but he's a human being at the end of the day.

Interesting read.

I wonder if or when Marquez will get bored of winning on the Honda and seek a new challenge on another bike?

Its been a privilege to watch him, Rossi and Lorenzo dice it out these last few years. Could be a long time before we see so much talent in one race season again once Rossi finishes.

I think he's been challenged this year. That honda has looked like a complete pig all season.

Like you say, it's a joy to watch him race. I can't understand how he can ride like that.

I think Marquez had the toughest season this year. He threw away last season by crashing so much (exactly what Rossi and Lorenzo did this season) and he just kept plugging away and taking points.

The first time I saw him ride a MotoGP bike I was hooked. The kid is insane.

Oh how I would love 1-on-1 tuition with him on a Euro Trackday !!!

Not sure anyone would learn much. So much of what he does appears to be about feel and correcting his line as and when required.

I would go along with that. He's riding based on experience, his body and brain are probably reacting before there's much conscious thought process.
