I intended to ride yesterday from Uley to Bristol to scope out my route. I was going to meet my Wife at the Bristol IKEA, have some meatballs and get the lift back home.

Instead I opted for a rest day and I'm bloody glad I did. This mornings commute felt good, I felt strong.

45km home last night and I put a lot of effort in. I've been working on improving my skill as well as fitness and that resulted in a new Personal Record on a nearly 5 minute long trail which landed me a Top 10 position on the leaderboard.

Plodding is still going.

2 runs last week, 5 and 7 miles.
5(ISH) miles last night and have a 10 mile race booked for Friday.

Bit nervous about the race as it will be the longest run for 12 or so months.

1000 miles cycled this year, 95 hours and 65,000ft of elevation.

This month alone I've done 250 miles as I really step up the intensity before our week away to Cornwall and the challenge itself the following week.

Nice one, especially that elevation. Not just miles, but tough miles.

I started with the new PT yesterday. Turns out that after 2 years of doing no strength exercises, I still can't do pull-ups or sit ups but I can still do squats and push-ups. Apparently there is hope for me and I'm allowed back next week. This is going to hurt!

Thanks mate, as you say, tough miles haha.

A long time out of strength training hurts like a bitch for a couple of weeks but after that it feels fantastic to be back doing it.

3 rides left before the end of the month (on holiday next week) and I'm trying to get 800km (500miles) for the month for the first time.

64km for each ride... wish me luck!
