The bank should refund you and get the money back from the insurance company. It does depend on what type of transaction it is. Direct debits, the account holder can always recall them even after they have been paid.

Virgin Media.

I tried to cancel with them in February as I was moving to Sky in March. I couldn't speak to anyone to cancel. Numerous calls with more than 1 hour waiting (sometimes more than 2 hours) and I didn't have anymore time to wait on those days.

I unplugged all my devices, paid my final bill, cancelled the direct debit and made a couple more attempts to get through to them. I

I ended up getting a call in April for payment where I then explained to the woman that I have paid my final bill and I've been trying to leave. "Okay", she says, "I'll write a note in your file and pass you over to the cancellations team". I get transferred and wait for 45 minutes to speak to someone. "There's nothing in your notes. You need to pay £100-something before we can disconnect you". And it's been a battle like this ever since.

I'm still making contact with them as much as possible but today I received a letter from BPO and I tried to call Virgin (as recommended in the complaint resolution) but they hang up on me after saying "We've sent you a text message with the details of the payment team". They are absolutely impossible to deal with.

Put simply, once this is all over I'm never going back to Virgin Media!

I've just double checked the Virgin Media Code of Practice and they shouldn't have got the bailiffs involved yet. My complain still has the right to be seen to by a Manager, Senior Manager and then Independent Adjudication.

These big companies are such big bullies and it really boils my piss. If this was my Grandparents they would have paid the bill they didn't owe just to keep them quiet.

I've boycotted the company since they sued the NHS, after losing out on a contract to provide children’s healthcare services, pocketing £2m of public money in the process.

Frankly I'm running out of companies to give my money too. We need more businesses run like Timpson.

I don't think Virgin Media has got anything to do with Virgin Care

Branson sold Virgin Media off to Telefonica and another company whose name I forget. But it's a large multinational telecoms operation.

What kind of a special kind of c@nt do you have to be to get to the age of 70, be a multi billionaire and still do everything you can to avoid paying tax. He can't spend that sort of money in a thousand years, never mind the next 10 to 30 years if he's lucky. I don't think most people understand just how much a billion is.

A guy like that isn't concerned about what he already has, his mind is always looking towards what he doesn't have. Too much is never enough, etc.
I suppose....??
