Jumped on it and rode to Mallory virtually nonstop. Just over 3 hours of (mainly) fecking awesome a roads and country lanes.

Hooked up with a local ride on some lovely twisty bits. As even in the mirrors it was obvious he knew the roads, I let him by and tagged on behind. Only stops where for fuel + sarni and a visor swap a bit later.

I still feel like I haven't ridden far, which is testimony to a great bike IMO.

Looking forward to caning someone else's bike tomorrow.

I am either getting old or lost my bottle but I am struggling to feel comfortable on my bike at the moment
Same here, we all need a few days in Wales to recalibrate.

After Duke pointing out the mode of failure in the OEM forks ive been looking at options for the forks.

Rather than spending money on preventative maintenance for no performance benefit, Ive decided to spend a little more and get a noticeable improvement from a set of bespoke fork cartridges, as the front end is a little vague and wooden.

I've decided to go for Maxton fork cartridges, so thought in for a penny, in for a pound and I'll get a bespoke, matching shock at the same time as always fancied trying the Maxton brand.

Fair enough. I had a maxton rear a few year back and the quality was excellent.

Looks like top quality stuff. Enjoy.

Suspension that works for you is up there at the top end of things that improve the bike.

Washed, polished, topped up the Gtechniq C2 and cleaned the chain.
I checked the fluids and tyre pressures and am actually surprised that it has used no oil or water in over 3K miles.

Monkey like shiny

Set the sag and did an oil and filter change.

The Maxton shock is the easiest shock I've had for adjust preload and that includes ones with remote hydraulic prelaod adjusters. Genius bit of engineering (y)

You can get some good kits if you don't mind a bit of a fettle. The one I got for the RSV was great and lasted will, the tabs where an expected weak point but a fiberglass kit from Halfords sorted that.

TBH, from seeing the bike quickly I really think of you got the tank done, with a bit of spit, sweat, and polish the rest of the bike would turn up pretty good. It would be a shame to lose that nose cone and yellow colour, it's iconic (and that's coming from someone who had the fastest stealthiest colour going ;) )

150 mile round trip to Chichester in South Downs. I prepped a route and wanted to have a bit of a reccy...it was boring, lots of 30s and 40s. We seem to be building in every available space and roads which clearly used to be 60s are now 40s and 40s are now 30s. The fun of riding is getting further and further away from home which means longer days in the saddle.

I am going to re route it!
