I work over 60 hours a week and love my job ,I do it to afford motorbikes and things
We wouldnt be able to run our factory if people only worked 32 hours a week, customers would just go else where , nice idea though

Anyhow getting truck packed for MX day tomorrow highly stressful, the kids just stand and watch and do FA :)

I'm envious that you can hand on heart say you love your job. That's what I'm trying to find for myself. I don't think you can really be overworked if you love the job.

We all are guilty of it to a degree Cav. The trick is to realise it's a short term gratification. There is always something better around the corner....

I do think a lot of people cause their own problems by trying to buy everything and they think that buys them happiness - indeed it becomes a habit for many. The current generation of kids (probably people under 30) have no concept of saving - they are given everything. They then expect that when they turn into adults. The government needs people to work too hard to prop up their economies. Sadly that means the workforce are exploited and they have no interest in a 4 day week or limiting pressure.

I'm all for 60 hour weeks - i did a lot of them - if thats what you need in your life at a point in time and there is a reason - ie you need the money to build your life in some way then it's an investment. When people piss it away on useless crap, giving their kids whatever they ask for or competing with the neighbours I have no sympathy tbh. The norm should be a lot less hours - you soon miss time with your kids / family or indeed get some terrible health condition.

In my view the greatest faux pas of the last 50 years in society has been the availability of easy credit. It doesnt encourage planning, life building or careful thought of what you want your life to be. It builds too much entitlement. It also means many feel too much pressure and expect too much - some people get themselves into horrendous debt.

I stopped worrying about buying the latest and greatest quite some time ago now. Not only is it liberating, it also allows you to save a suprising amount of money. Compound that over a good few years and hey presto i dont need to work in a stressful money driven environment. What i have i can afford and thats my expectation.

I think you can work very hard until you are 40 but beyond that i think your health - mentally and physically starts to suffer.

I'm all for a hippy era man !

I'm guilty of a lot of that mate.. I've done a lot in a short time and now I need to buckle down and pay things off. About 2 years and things will be easier, maybe then I can really hunt down a job I love.

I'm lucky, I love my work. I can do short weeks, long weeks and I've got a few of those coming up. I get so much enjoyment out of creating software and creating systems that people say can't be done, nothing beats that satisfaction.

Instant gratification from purchases, yeah guilty. But some are to give long term enjoyment fun experiences. take for example the £70 odd that I spent on a body board and wetsuit for my daughter, we had about 6 hours fun in the sea over the week and there will be many more times.

Much like perkles and his daughter with MX, you can't put a price on that time and it makes the hours burned worth while.

I'm sure all of us with kids can relate.

Right now I'm trying to do an intake interview with a very VERY drunk man.
- It's not half as entertaining as you might think.

.... And now as I'm writing this my second interview has just shown up.
..... This is going to be a long day.

Got Jess car going again. Needed 2 L of oil (facepalm) but also had a code up for high intake airflow. Had a good look about but nothing obvious. Cleared the code with the Scangauge and gave it a good trash home and seems ok. From reading up on the code it appears it’s triggered from a calculation from a number of different sensors not just a single sensor. So for now I’m just putting it down to a computer brain fart unless it happens again and I can do some more troubleshooting

Took my dog to the vets for the last time , it's a decision that never gets easier and never fails to leave me devastated even though I know it was the right thing to do .

;( Knowing that it was in their best interests, doesn't stop how it hurts us does it.
A vet I knew told me that keeping a dog alive beyond the point that it enjoys it's walks etc,, is selfish, because that would be for us & not for the dog.

Yep... it's the right thing to do, although I can't imagine what a hollow feeling it must bring.

Went to the Forest for 5 hours of Cross Country and Downhill riding. Most enjoyable visit yet. Only disappointment is Strava lost my upload so I don't actually know how much climbing I did to gauge my progress
