Re: What are you doing today ??
I’m pulling the same face as I had a call from my agent about the house I’ve sold. All the agency staff are stuck my side of the river but my investment property is on the other side. Settlement is being delayed because no one can get over to do the final inspection. Water level is slowly creeping towards the property. My insurance was cancelled on the expected settlement date and they won’t re-instated it as they know the area is flooding.
Yay

I've got the dentist this afternoon for a scrape and polish. I can think of better things to be doing with my time.

I went about a week ago...... the lass that cleans my teeth wants to go out on a date.... forgot to mention it last week. I'm sorely tempted.....in fact, I think I will.

Re: What are you doing today ??
Our house offer was rejected, which is a shame but can't be helped.
The house we were supposed to be looking at today has switched estate agents for some reason, so they've cancelled our viewing.
Also a shame, but deep down we knew that house wasn't really right anyway.
I knew buying a house is supposed to be one of the most stressful things you can do in life, but I haven't even spent any money yet and I'm already losing sleep!
Anyway, got a couple of new builds to look at this week, we'll see what they bring to the table.

It's shit. I hated it. Our sale and purchase really dragged out though, caused by our buyer lying about being a cash buyer.

Re: What are you doing today ??
It wasn't so bad for us when we bought our first home. We only viewed a handful of houses, and only 2 of those we thought we may actually put an offer on.
We had our offer accepted before the house was actually on the market and even made an agreement on certain items to be left (white goods and some furnishings). The long thing for us was waiting for their solicitor (a local company whom we didn't have a high opinion of to start with due to their relationship with a family member which meant that when a member passed away, their daughter received not a penny). I believe our offer was accepted in March and we didn't move in until August.

Imho many people are looking for a house far too hastily.Itchy wrote:......I haven't even spent any money yet and I'm already losing sleep!.
Once you've brought your home it applies fundamentally to many aspects of your life, and unlike a vehicle purchase is not so straightforward to sell on & try again. Considering all the implications, it astounds me that so many buyers seem to rush at it like they may do for a new car.
Of course if the "right house in the right area" crops up quickly, that's fine. It seems less usual though.

Re: What are you doing today ??
To play devil's advocate for a moment, StMarks, it may appear that people are doing that (as it likely did for us) but we had been looking for months, working out what we did and didn't like from each house and then seeing the few we thought were maybes and the very few we could actually see ourselves in.
