Ok, I'll admit it. My dinosaur like brain is struggling with this.

How can kids so young be so certain that their assigned gender (for want of a better phrase) is incorrect? At 6 years old I wasn't sure if blackberry jelly was better than raspberry.

Surely such thoughts don't emerge until you start puberty or close to it?

Am I being cynical and wondering if this is a modern affliction brought about by "experts" telling people we need to be aware of such things or are we in an enlightened society were children finally feel free to discuss such issues?

As a fellow dinosaur, I'm with you on your comprehension of the matter. Short answer is that it's not so much that I feel we are such an enlightened society, but rather we're terrified of being viewed as not being open to everything, no matter how far fetched the idea.

when I watched I thought of all those people in past generations who had to suppress those feelings.

We spend all our young life trying to fit in and it's not until we have worked so hard to get everything we are supposed to have to make us happy turn out to be irrelevant in the grand scheme of things

I don't understand it either , I am pretty sure that nature doesn't give choices in such matters , you are what you are not what you want to be , otherwise I'd be a gorilla or an otter or ....

Well if there is an after life I'm coming back as a smoking hot chick (giggle)

I will be the first lesbian to win the motogp title and I'll do it on five different manufacturers in successive years too (lol)
