New bike purchase - Suggest some bikes

Having only had the track bikes over the past 12 months, I am missing riding on the road.

Floated the idea to the Mrs last night about getting a bike to play around on during the warmer months on the road and although I know she wasnt over keen, she basically gave me the green light!

So, give me some recomendations/ideas guys. Some points to note below:
- I only want to spend approx £4k
- Reasonably low mileage
- Less than 5/6 years old ideally
- Not a sports bike
- Nothing too small (i am 6'3 and a bit of a lump)
- If i were to resell at end of this year, not take too much of a hit monetary wise

I was thinking the Speed triple. Had the street triple before which was fun but with me on it, as per most bikes, it felt a bit small.

Just been looking and saw a Ducati Hypermotard for £4800 which I reckon i could get a deal on. ANyone ever ridden one of them?

They do look like fun, and that is all I want from a bike. There is a guy here in canary wharf who commutes on his and reguarly flys past me on my walk to the office. If I am in my office when he goes by, you can certainly hear him coming!

Another bike I have seen for a good price is a BMW F800R. Never ridden one, nor know anyone who has.

Anyone have experience of these?

Good shout that!

A friend of mine had one of those too, he loved it and only got rid as his commute went from being 20 miles each way to 65 miles each way

The one on ebay is a bit far awaty from me but does come with with Arrow cans and the listing has "make an offer" on it.

There is this one too, which is only 50 miles from home (rather than 180)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2009-APRILIA- ... 27f8c0ab1d" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Not quite as clean, not the R version, a bit older and 4k miles but up at £4200 on Make an offer....will test his mettle with an offer I think.

And what with the used bike market as it is, surely it will not go down a great deal in value over the 6-12 months if i did want to get rid at end of year
