Cold Weather riding

So who is still out on their bikes?

I was going to use mine this morning but it was -4 outside and the roads looked icy.

The car is warm but I hate sitting in traffic.

I've not been on last couple of weeks. The rumours of snow etc, meant I've not bothered. I hate being in the car though. I get so wound up.

You might want to give your chain a soak if you're not using the bike. Mine had a few tight spots on it.

I read chain as chin and really struggled to make sense of the sentence

Us old blokes have multiple chins which can stick together when it gets cold.

I only did it when I had too, ie 16 year old apprentice going to work on a Fizzie and 17 year old going to work on an XL 100,both went down the road many times, after that experience never again. Fortunately I now have options but I still only ride in the warm weather, I just don't see the point in winter with all the potentials to throw the thing down the road, could be very costly for little return as I see it

I haven't been out on the bike since I went away last year.

Hell, I haven't even looked at the bike. It's still tucked up in my mate's garage, like Dale I have no intention of getting out on it just for fun whilst it's this cold. And I haven't had to go to work yet so there's no need. For me at least!

Been out today for an hour or two. 6 degrees according to the bike. First ride of this year for me and I haven't done much for 18 months so really good to blow the cobwebs out. I don't mind the cold so as long as the roads are ok I don't mind when I ride

I enjoy riding in the cold provided I don't get too cold. I find I'm thinking more about my riding, planning ahead, being a bit smoother and easier with the brakes and throttle.

Do you remember that January ride with Beermonster a few years ago where we were sliding into island junctions and decided to stop at the first little chef as it was too cold and icy. Maybe too enthusiastic I reckon...

I've not been out much at all recently..

A combination of the cold / rain / snow and training have kept the bike in the shed. I have to deal with a load of roads that are untreated, one of which meant the end to my D6. This makes me much happier in the car. I only have a 25 min commute at the moment and the time saved by using the bike would be cancelled out in the time it would take me to kit up and get the bike out of the shed.

Looking forward to frankies ride in a few weeks though, blow a few cobwebs away.

Been out but has been blimming cold! Regular stops and warming up is a must, something on Saturday I didn't do and paid the consequences. However when your warm then going out at this time is quite nice not having so many people out on the weekends. Looking forward to the summer though [SMILING FACE WITH SMILING EYES]

not been out much at all but we have had 3 loads of snow seems to take for ever to go and they seem to be throwing grit every were. Hoping the weather settles down a bit so i can get out for a ride soon.

Missing the riding now but have no great desire to go out when its this cold.

My bones and muscles hate the cold a little more each year.

Yep I dont stop regardless of the time of the year, I must admit the trips are not so long though. Plus I dont like it when the cleaning takes up more time than the ride!!! thats the wrong way around. As you can tell I dont use for work very often, this is mostly pleasure.

I rode the bike into work this morning. Chuff me it was cold. My poor fingers.
