Amir Khan

Post by Blade »

Total respect for a very decent and brave young man.

The world would benefit from more decent soles like him.

Too many moderate muslims remain silent IMO. Unless action is taken then the general population will continue to believe that the likes of ISIS and the Taliban represent Islam.

Very brave. But it needs others like him to stand up as well.

Well done Amir for putting your head above the parapet, as said above way too many Muslims are staying quiet, as Edmund Burke said "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."

:( More likely he will be targeted himself. There is nothing the radicals hate more than the voice of peace & logic.

Well I m very glad a respected high profile Muslim is prepared to stand up to these perpetrates of evil and hopefully others will stand by him. It has taken a lot of courage to speak out as obviously he will be a target now and as a new father that takes huge commitment.

Yes, but too many 'moderates' are surrounded by more radical types....hell, the Shi'ite and other sects can't even sort themselves out (echoes of Ulster??)

I admire Khan for speaking out, and respect his views....but he's a public figure and has that platform....the majority of people do not.
And let's call it for what it is.....one educated man speaking out against the actions of millions of uneducated people with a herd mentality.

There aren't that many radicals in the UK. The police know the mosques used to promote the hatred but they're too afraid of being called racist.

There are muslims speaking out. My friend Erum posted this from Yasir Qadhi on FB:

"I don't get it. I really just don't get it. I am in shock and unable to write clearly.

Attacking a school? Killing children?! Over 126 people massacred?

For what? Who could do this? Are these people human?

If the Taliban is really behind this, I have no doubt in my mind that this one incident will be the end of this group, once and for all.

Those who defended other incidents in the past, all in the name of fighting drone attacks and American aggression and your long, never ending list: I'd really like to see you defend this one. Actually, scratch that, if you feel this act is defensible I don't think this world is a place for you to live in, and I don't want to hear anything from you or about you.

As the father of four children, my sympathies and duas go out to ALL of the families of that school.

For how long will we tolerate and defend fanaticism? Do people not see that when you open this door of allowing innocent deaths, the logical conclusion will be such an attack?! Do ISIS supporters and al-Qaeda types not understand that their rhetoric inevitably causes their own followers to become deaf, dumb and blind, and that this leads to such fanaticism and psychopathic bloodshed?

Who cares if the parents of these children were Pakistani military and that it was a school for the children of the army - WHAT HAVE THESE CHILDREN DONE TO DESERVE SUCH A CRUEL AND DASTARDLY DEATH?? Nothing, I repeat, NOTHING, justifies this massacre.

"And when the young girl buried alive will be asked: For what crime was she killed?" [Takwir: 8]"

I suspect the issue is that muslims speaking out doesn't make for sensationalist news coverage for the western media.

Yes, but then where does that leave us?? 20 extremists flying planes into the WTC is always gonna grab more news than someone else saying to not do it.

End of the day, even the moderates are after the total extermination of the Jewish people.

Knew that was coming, but I don't buy it.....hey, the Jewish Nation is always going to claim 6 million Jews were executed in WWII....the reality is closer to 3.5M.

I hate these discussions....they just run in circles.....hence the problem.

Power corrupts is the biggest problem of all....and when times get tough the extremes get more news coverage and potentially more power as well.

I read today that even Germany is concerned about the support for the right wing elements in their politics.

The Germans have to be....there'd be no excuse a second time.
People seem to forget Anti-Semitism was very popular all over the West when Hitler came to power....mostly as an 'off-shoot' of The Great Depression....or perhaps in spite of it....Austria, France, UK, USA....all were guilty......just no one seriously thought it would be taken to such extremes.
