It's a nice looking car and I'm sure it goes like stink, but even when he's got it sideways it doesn't seem to be that exciting to drive.

Hmm. Big engine, but not too much flair on the looks front. The Germans don't do style from what I can see...

I always get the impression that the Germans build a car from the inside out.
The Brits and Italians do it the other way. Some of the US car makers have in the past gone for looks first. US muscle cars look the part IMO.

Personally i love the style of it. It has a look of its own IMHO. Not that I am ever going to drive one. ![Big Smile :D](./images/smilies/emoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif)

It's certainly better looking than the SLS but still too 'chunky' if that makes sense.. It's not a bad looking car, just nice. For that money I want wow.

You had me until the muscle car remark.....they've gone too retro for me. But I'm a victim of my own wonts....why pay $50K for a Corvette when I can get a truck for half that price with the same motor....or virtually the same??? The corvette is a truly nice car though.
AMG was a cracking little company when it was AMG....they bent the rules to hell....they put a massive fecking wing on the Evolution II....."No aerodynamic device is to be visible from the rear view mirror"...or some other crap was written in the DTM rules.....Oh really? - fine....pull the f*cking mirror out of that car and spray the back window black.
But they got 'too big' as builders of what we call a "sleeper car", and MBZ bought them up....used to be a rare sight, theses days Blue Peter will show you how to make one with an egg carton.
And the depreciation on those cars is almost laughable.....I nearly bought a 600SEL for $37K....car was only 18 months old.....list price was $140K!!! Same with Jags, BMW's, etc....they're all great until you take them for a service.

Mercedes AMG GT-S at Laguna Seca
These cars don't cost a lot to service these days. My Jag costs £300 per year - fixed price for 5 years (that's including Vat and major / minor services and brake fluid change etc)
It's only the like of Lamborghini, Ferrari etc that charge the earth. Mercedes don't charge big money in comparison. Plus most of the GT-S parts will be proven and borrowed from its saloon cousins.
Mind you, the tyres may cost a lot!
More concerning is the price and maintenance of modern diesels. Unless you do big mileage they really are not worth it anymore given their extra costs, service costs and likely failures of particle filters, turbos, intercoolers and the like. When I change my estate I don't think it will be a diesel tbh.

And with different part numbers, and astronomically different prices for the same thing.C00kiemonster wrote:These cars don't cost a lot to service these days. My Jag costs £300 per year - fixed price for 5 years (that's including Vat and major / minor services and brake fluid change etc)
