Fecking horrible stuff.

Re: Road salt
It's not the old road salt anymore. It's some 'orrible remade concoction designed to remain on the road. That's why the roads are damp throughout the winter. The stuff is very slow to dry out and is said to cause more rust.

Re: Road salt
I don't miss salty roads that's for sure. They don't use it over here, Doesnt seem to stop people out and about.
I wonder if it is actually as effective as they think?

Re: Road salt
When I nipped out on Saturday I got splattered by a salt wagon heading out of Henley... You can see it on the road for about 200 'yards, but the cars just sweep it off to the sides! And all it's doing is sitting in the gutter.
Horrible stuff!!

Re: Road salt
I recall reading somewhere it's being mixed with molasses so it sticks to the road and doesn't blow about like dry sand on a desert road. It's horrible to ride on, but haven't found many problems driving on it.
