If the Spaniards aren't arguing with the Brits then it takes minutes,

Malaga wil be cheapest. It's a very busy airport. You should be able to get a hire car direct from the airport and the roads in southern Spain are very good.

Yeah we did that when we stayed at Costa torrox. Hire the car from one of the Spanish airport based hire car company's much cheaper than people like hertz and Avis. I think we used someone like gold car hire and they were good apart from a big que to collect the car as there very popular as cheap and good.

I would much rather hire from one of the big companies. We where planning to use a local company when we went to Sardinia, what a fecking horror story. It took over an hour and a half to get to the desk, there where only 3 people in the queue. We where then told that we would have to pay for extra insurance (which we already had cover for but they wouldn't accept the certificate) or pay and extra 1000 Euro deposit.

After half an hour of trying to work something out I finally got pissed off and demanded all my paper work back, went over to the europcar stand and was out in a car in under 10 mins, full insured without any stupid deposits.. Total cost of the hire was something daft like 20-30 quid more than the local company, the car was also much nicer.

Obviously some bad company's about and sorry to hear you had a bad time.

The company we used was recommended via the lonely planet guide and was really good. If it helps and people want it I will try and look it up or find the lp guide we used.

(y) That would be really useful, cheers mate..

I was just saying in a round about sort of way, I'd rather go for a bigger company with all the organisation and security that comes with it over saving a tenner or two.

On another note, the airlines seemed to have released some more flights for end of October. To fly out from London to Seville you are looking at approx £150 return which I do not think is too bad. (Out Sunday, Return Wednesday)

Holy thread resurrection Batman.

So, has anyone thought about flights?? I need to start thinking about this soon as the month out of work has made things pretty tight and the house move cleaned out all the money I had put aside for the trip..

Ok, so here are the flight options I've found so far:

* London Stanstead - Jerez - £145
- Ryan Air
- Outbound - 07:00 -> 10:55
- Return - 10:55 -> 12:50

* Gatwick - Gibraltar - £137
- easyJet
- Outbound - 16:00 -> 19:55
- Return - 12:35 -> 14:30

* London Stanstead - Sevile - £188
- Ryan Air
- Outbound - 12:25 -> 16:10
- Return - 16:40 -> 18:35

* Gatwick - Sevile - £242
- easyJet
- Outbound - 09:35 -> 13:20
- Return - 13:55 -> 15:40

For me Stanstead is a PITA and I would prefer Gatwick. That said it would be good if we could all get the same flight and then hire a people carrier the other side to keep the costs down....

Let me know what you think as I would like to start thinking about getting something booked. Obviously the prices are the initial prices before you add luggage etc........
