Is it OK to take the linings out and then wash the helmet in the bath? The vents on mine stink as a result of all the old dead flies inside the vent openings and the only when i can see to clean them is to flush them through with the shower attachment.
Anyone tried this?

Re: Washing your helmet
I think the trick is getting it properly dry, as a thin film of water can get trapped between the polystyrene and the helmet outer, if that happens it'll start smelling again fairly quickly. I'd give a day or two in the airing cupboard if you've got a spare lid to wear.

Re: Washing your helmet
I have taken the removable liner which looks like a skull cab and the cheek pad s for a wash in baby shampoo but personally I would not move the polystyrene as this is part of the safety structure. Perhaps people know better than me and it is possible but from personal experience never heard of remove the polystyrene.

I don't see why you can't take the linings out and clean them then bath the outer layer. It's has to get cleaned somehow to be honest
