I suppose you get used to it as a normal sound of the bike, "Character"? The quizzical looks might get a bit old a bit quickly though.
What did I do to my bike today?
Got it very dirty, the ride to Willingham Woods was 90% wet with hail at one point, the forecast was dry with maybe the occasional light shower, not over an hour of getting soaked... Goretex for the win until I turned the heated seat on, Goretex is breathable letting water vapour go from hot to cold, Heated seat = wet (but warm) arse.
My Italian friend joined us at Willingham and as usual brought the sunshine with him, it literally stopped raining 1 minute before he arrived, must be his Mediterranean blood, or something. He and his wife were dry among a load of drowned rats.
A swift coffee later and we decided to head up to Barton, over the Humber Bridge since it's free on 2 wheels and on through Wetwang to Seaways for a light dinner. After that we headed back towards home, Leeds for them and down the A19 for me, all in sunshine after Willingham.
Home with 170 miles on the clock and 70 remaining on the dash, the GT handled everything with it's usual ease from torrential rain to 19° twistys using all of the rear tyre with the TC light flashing as the front tyre hovers just off the ground

Finally picked one up, so I'm back on two wheels again. Unfortunately it's not my bike, but with the traffic getting back to work it will be easier than the cage.

An F850 GS, she's a big girl. 69 plate with 6 miles on the clock when I picked her up.duke63 wrote:What did they lend you?
I'll do a mini writeup when I've had a couple of rides to get into the swing of it.

Took the Multi out for a couple of hours with a friend on the back. Biggest ride since surgery. Went pretty well apart from the right hand going pretty numb towards the end. Beautiful weather, was 12 deg when we headed off and by the time we got back it’s was mid 20’s. Only mid day now and I feel like going out again!!

I was planning on doing the same until the heavens opened. It was that heavy that most cars had their fog lights on.Kwacky wrote:Took the long way home

Gave it a good wash and polish with some ACF-50 on the clutch covers. The paint is flaking off and KTM called it wear and tare now that it's out of warranty... Might be a winter project to have those covers re-painted.

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
Took the little GB out for a 1/2 hr spin, I hadn’t ridden it since my little break down that turned out to be a bumped ignition switch, or so I hoped.
Well thing ran fine, so seems my diagnosis was right thank godness. Coming back up my hill a guy on a CBR650F passed me on the straight before all the windy bits. As soon as he hit the first corner he practically stopped so I just rode around the outside of him on the corner and continued to enjoy the hill, at the top of the hill there’s another passing lane, I was sitting about 10 km over the limit (60 zone) and waited to see when he’d show up, eventually he rounded the last corner and came screaming past me. Got to love the straight line weekend hero’s

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
Dash went off, pulled over switched it off and then wouldn’t start. Bumped it and rode back but wouldn’t rev high so must have been running on just the battery. New battery and only 300 yards so hopefully no damage done and it’s just the rectifier and not the stator.Kwacky wrote:Ah shit. No warning?

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
270 miles to rivington barn and back via Skipton and devils bridge on the way there. Some very tight nadgery roads with great scenery and some very fun ones too.
My bike did surprise me, on its current tank it's done 85 miles, and claims 170 remaining. The KTM remap seems to have helped more than just the smoothness.
