What's your brake setup, Kwacky?

Commonly brake fade is caused by:
Old fluid
Air in fluid
Rubber hoses
Worn brake pads
Rubbish brake pads
Master cylinder
Calipers
Discs

Pretty much in that order.

Ceramic backed pads will help

Having seen the price of the ceramic ones they'll have to wait.

They weren't coming up as an option for my bike.

I've have to check to see which bikes use the same calipers. I'm sure there are a few.

Not sure if true but some one suggested to me the other day Bendix were not making the MRR pad anymore.

I've not check but that's what I heard.

I've just bought some MRR from Averys, pads for mine should fit yours as they both use M50 calipers.

Edit
They are sending SBS RS pads instead of Bendix MRR, which they can't get anymore.

Got fecking soaked... Bored of rain mode now, but 49mpg on the dash..

Had a great moment on the A34 as well. Rolled into the 50 limit round Oxford in crap traffic, in lane one undertaking loads of cars including a marked X5... We hit 50 and he was basically flanking me.. all good... Until he came up to a slower moving car in lane 2, which obviously shit a brick seeing the copper behind and stuck on a left indicator and slammed the car into lane 1.. right where my front wheel was.. by sheer luck I managed to see the indicator flash and grabbed enough front brake to get out of the way and not fall off (I'm sure BMW electrics helped)

A quick shake off the head, and was about to dismiss the whole thing when the X5 joined the indication and slotted in front of me before lighting up the blues and pulling the car over. Nice.

Had a similar situation once and the Police stepped in that time too, so I know how good it feels to see them step in when poor and dangerous driving standards are so common place these days. Good for them, I just wish there was more Police on the roads to improve driving standards rather than naively think speeding cameras will solve everything.

Had it happen to me too. I was in Reading at night, pitch black. I was in a very residential area and 30 was the limit, parked cars on one side of the road no street lights on. I noticed a car right behind me, all I had to do was come off the throttle and I'm sure it would of hit into my rear end. I held at 30.

The driver behind thought that wasn't fast enough so stepped out hammered the throttle and got in front of me, I didn't even realise there was a car behind that car and he did the same. A second after the second car pulled in front of me blues went on - undercover copper car!

The first car pulled over and the copper got out of the car, as I crawled past the copper nodded at me! And I watched him walk up to the first car drivers window!

Karma at its finest

Rode the 999 !!!
For the first time in nearly 2 years ..ish I took the 999 out for a spin. I nearly turned back after about 5 mins as I was finding it really hard work, these 999’s aren’t built for comfort. That and the fact that I haven’t been on a sports bike since I came off I found it hard going and getting used to the QA throttle took some getting used to.
I was all over the place at first but perceived and had a great couple of hours, this bike is fantastic when you can get to stretch it’s legs but a PITA round town, I called into Fowlers on the way back for a cuppa but didn’t stay long. Lots of bikes out today, I was out early to beat the rush.
Just reminded myself never to think of selling this again !!! (h) (h)

Took the GT to a local charity football match, I don't do football but for a good cause I will show up and put some money in the pot.

Now sat at SMC having a coffee and a browse of the KTM and Ducati's.

Going to take the long way home I think.

Edit
Having less than inspiring front brakes on twisty roads makes for good use of the rear tyre. These Continental RA3 get 2 thumbs up from me.

Found out what it feels like to be a boil-in-the-bag...

Still haven't get summer goretex, so still interested the fully lined trousers. Might wear leathers for the couple of days...

A relatively gentle ride into work this morning. The roads are certainly quieter. The AT does 75mpg at 70mph in 6th. That's good going for a heavy 1 litre bike.

Wow that is good. I am averaging 51mpg. At 70 depending on wind direction I'm getting about 60 to 65

Average on the commute is around 55mpg. There's a few bits of road I like to use to wake me up a bit.

The Versys averages around 60mpg but I need to use more of the revs to get a move on.
