So sad to see this, but extremes are everywhere now, in all forms, floods, fires, if I were a religious man I am sure ire there was something about this in that book.

I cannot guess how much wildlife has lost its life and home as well as all the people suffering. The ecosystem is taking a real pounding. I expect the smoke and dust clouds and crap in the air will find it self all over the planet before long, creating other issues as well.

Of don’t worry Frankie the religious nuts on FB are having a field day with this. I’m blocking as much as I can. Some groups are actually contributing to aid and volunteering which I applaud what ever your beliefs. But there are some real crazies out there talking extreme nonsense.

I’m waiting to see if the mass worldwide Timezone synchronised prayer effort being copy and pasted has any effect. Myself I prefer to do real world help like catering duties I did, donating clothing & stock feed to struggling fire victims.

On post I particularly found of bad taste was a local lady (who does amazing work in charity and cooking meals for those in need) who is a big churchy posted in our local community FB group that she’d prayed for the southerly that saved our area and praise be to the lord! I’d be ok with that if the southerly hadn’t have turned the long fire flank to a fire front and wiped out 12 houses, 2 businesses and countless orchards, injures 2 fire fighters and caused countless anguish for the community we neighbour.

She could just have been praising The Lord that the damage wasn't worse?? Maybe??

She literally said ‘Praise the lord for sending the southerly I prayed for and saving our community’

Failing to acknowledge that another whole community got dealt to instead.

Arguably if the weather had have kept the fire tracking our way there was less in its path to destroy.

I don’t have the water stores to use up that way but the a/c did better once I put the fan back on auto instead of low

I’d set it on that overnight and forgot.

Mate, I may have said that in an inappropriate tongue in cheek way (piss-taking) given the circumstances, but any water evaporating on the condenser will make a big difference. Drinking water or ditch water.

I always thought it had to be continuous for it to have any effect, I’ll try just a quick soak next hot day and see how it goes. I can afford to use a bit of water just wasn’t keen to run a hose continuously. And I had thought about that idea previously so I took your suggestion as a good one!

I’ve wet down the house roof till water stopped evaporating (as excess goes back in my tank) and that cools the place down a few degrees too.

P.S. it’s currently raining (patchy) and about 20 degrees. Nearly need the heat on!

Some bloody good news, only one of the many fires around Aussie atm but it is the one that was bothering us

Good to hear it's raining. I never thought I heard myself say "I hope it continues to rain", but in this case I very much hope it does

I see that the ash is getting into the rivers, polluting the water and killing the fish.

As tragic as it all is, a little part of me is intrigued to see how nature responds to this disaster.

Up until today my tank water has had a smoky smell, but we’ve had the start of 6 days of thunderstorms today and a big downpour. We filter drinking water but you could notice it in the shower.

Australian bush regenerates pretty fast after fire. It’s a natural cycle for it, just usually not this extreme.
