It’s hard to please some people and I’m guessing a lot of 675 die hards have already got a good idea of what they wanted in the next gen Daytona. But it’s like reading the book then watching the movie. The movie can be great stand alone but if it doesn’t match pre conceived expectations then there will always be disappointment.

Personally, I fee this bike is not marketed for a everyday ride, or even weekend ride bike. It’s a piece of racing history, in exclusive numbers for collectors and investors. A few will see track days, a few will make the road.

I freaking love it. The Honda RCV never really grabbed me although I appreciated its engineering. This thing is making me salivate and if I only had myself to worry about I’d buy it. The paint scheme is a big bonus for me not a deterrent. My favourite colour is gunmetal grey so this suits me fine!!

Wonder what a moody pre teen kid fetches on the open market these days

I think people need to know a bit more about it before jumping to conclusions. Those still using the 675cc site are the die hard Daytona owners. They'll be publicly drumming up reasons to convince themselves why they don't need one.

The only reason a 675 daytona owner would publicly a 765 daytona is because they can't afford to change to one

Yup....it'll be because Triumph have "clearly lost the plot with the new 765" and have "forgotten what made the 675 so unique in the first place".

I remember getting my @rse handed to me by some chick on a 675 at Willow Springs many years ago & thinking the very same thing.

I can see both points of view tbh.

In fairness the engine development which is the expensive bit was done for the street triple already and the frame and swing arm look like standard Daytona items in the press shots. But who knows they may surprise us all, with a new from the ground up bike

Those press shots aren't press shots of the bike AFAIK. They're of the Moto2 test mule.

I liked it better when a mule was called a prototype. Sounds more advanced.

I think it would be ridiculous to create an all. New bike from the ground up for just a limited run. It would cost and lose a fortune

Hence why some people, perhaps unfairly are calling it a parts bin special, admittedly a bloody nice one but still a parts bin special.

These spy shots are the road bike under testing and looks very similar to a D675 that's where I believe some of the comments may be coming from.

It won’t look like that.

I had an email from Staffs Triumph offering me a spot in the queue. I suspect by Silverstone MotoGP they will all be sold if they aren’t already.

Parts bin is a bit of a harsh term. It makes it sou d like you will be taking the left over crap and using that.

When as far as I know the d675 had a great chassis so to use that as a starting point seems to make great sense. Etc. Surely it's a smart plan to start with a winning formula and build on that
