What ever you do don't show a 9 year old, the opening scenes to Saving Private Ryan (shake)

I did when we were doing a Normandy Beach tour. I wanted to show him that its not cool, which was how he perceived it. I achieved the desired effect, but with hindsight I used a hydraulic battering ram to crack a nut (facepalm) still feel bad to this day :(

Lesson well and truly learned (blush)

The ex & I went to see it with her two boys/my stepsons.....a few people in the cinema gave us funny looks.
The boys were fine with it, though....and I still think to this day it was important for them to see that movie, at that time.
I did have the odd fleeting thought of "maybe this wasn't such a good idea?" at the beginning, though.

I had that same thought as the only guy in the theatre with a shaved head watching "Schindler's List" too, come to think of it.
Got funny looks there too. Ba$tards.

I've not checked it out yet, so proceed with caution. But the site appears to be kosher.

I didn't. I thought it lacked substance. I had no interest in the characters. It seemed to be a very light version of Saving Private Ryan.

It wasn't great , I also had no connection to the characters but it just wasn't horrific enough to give any sense of realism to it , unlike the opening scenes of Saving Private Ryan which were brilliant in conveying the carnage that is war . I thought that They Shall Not Grow Old by Peter Jackson was much better .

It's not a movie obviously, but to be honest I thought Band Of Brothers beat the lot of them. Easily.
Different format though, so I don't know if you can compare them.
