(wait) Actually, fwiw in my experience there is...
Being directed to "take over" from a colleague, and then somehow becoming accountable for the ensuing bloodbath, political fallout & subsequent cost analysis......
The fact that the situation was entirely created by the base incompetence of another becomes somehow irrelevant.???? (headbang)
IMHO it's the Peter Principle, that's endemic in so many UK sectors, that inevitably givesd rise to these muppets.

Hope you have a great holiday Deegee, just the two of you.??

Me: "Hello, I tried to book a table online the other day, I haven't had any confirmation yet, can I just confirm it's gone through?"

Restaurant: "You tried to book a table online? I've never heard of anyone doing that before? Are you sure it was for this place?"

"Yes. Definitely used the system on your website. "

"Hmm, never had anyone do that before."

"OK, never mind, can I just book one over the phone then?"

"Ooh no, we don't take bookings on a weekend."

Would it be worth sending an email to the "contact us" address on that website, recounting your experience.? -Someone has enough about them to invest in the infrastructure, & the chances are they may be "alarmed" at the enthusiasm & motivation displayed by their colleague on the phone.

It depends on how we get on when I go there this afternoon. Interestingly enough, they wouldn't take a booking but told me to ring up about half an hour beforehand to reserve a table!

This probably sounds like more trouble than it's worth, but the missus wants to go there and it's her birthday today.

Mum's who don't work, live off benefits, have enough money to smoke, have very little respect and allow their kids to kick their footy into people's cars and doing sweet FA about it. We need to cut these people from society they are able to show their kids nothing other than live off hand outs

You just know I'm going to agree with Rossgo on this one I'm afraid mate.
(wait) Perhaps we could do some sort of a deal, whereby we agree to take in a lot more refugees if we can expel a relative proportion of endemic professional takers.?
Would that work ok for you Monty.? (emo)

I would take a million Syrians if we could just drop Farage + May + Boris + Gove + Fox into Aleppo for a week.
