Careful which bolts you replace with stainless Kwacky as they shouldn't be used in high tensile applications.

Stainless bolts are for the cosmetics stuff like fairings and mirrors. For anything serious I use the race spec bits. Not cheap but it's peace of mind.

Yep, been to see 4 675s and one ZX6. So far no one has jumped at my low ball walk away offers.

I guess it's ideal for you. You're in no rush to buy so you've got all the time you need to shop around.

It makes me laugh how much people want for their bikes..

I paid £4500 for an 09 with 12k on it - from the main dealer! Someone was asking for £4900 for an 08 with 12k.... What a pleb!!

You should get either of those bike for £4k-£5k I would have thought

Me too. People always want masses of cash for their rusty piles of shit.

Example:

'08 plate Honda Varadero 125, NON RUNNER, couple of weeks MOT left, no tax, "electrical fault"

£800 NO OFFERS.

Yeah, good luck with that. Non runner, no MOT, worth weigh in value.

Yep, plus I get paid to drive around the country and I like looking at a bikes and talking to bikers. Met some really nice dealers over the last week.

They are appalling. Lovely and friendly whilst you're buying, but once they have your cash...

Example 1:

Mate bought a brand new Spanish 125 from Fowlers. Was stopped by police shortly into first ride to be told that headlights were illegal. Adjusted for euro road use, could not be set for UK. Also, displays all in KM/H, could not be set to MPH. Took Fowlers 4 months to sort, whilst fully paid for bike had to be kept offroad.

Example 2:

Same mate (!!) bought a brand new Triumph Thruxton. 24 hours after it was brought home, it started to deposit oil all over the drive. Turns out various bits weren't done up properly. Bike clearly not PDId. Took weeks for Fowlers to admit responsibility and resolve.

Example 3:

Mate bought a restricted 600 from Fowlers. Shortly after taking it home, he was pulled out on by a car at the top of a hill, forcing him to brake and crash the bike from about 50mph. Insurance investigators believe that there may have been an issue with the front brakes - evidence of fluid on discs - but Fowlers deny this. Later evidence suggests that bike is not a UK model and may not have been UK road legal at all. Still not completely resolved, some 8 months on.

Example 4:

Bloke you may know of vaguely bought a bike from Fowlers (because he made a very bad decision considering the above). Paid through the nose for a top box and carrier. A month after the bike had been handed over and at the 3rd attempt, Fowlers finally managed to fit the right top box. By then, the bike had developed a fuel system issue which Fowlers refused to acknowledge or fix, despite the bike being under warranty. Another Honda dealer identified the issue and the case is now with the lawyers. Still not completely resolved, 6 months on.

They are, quite simply, the worst kind of scum out there. Avoid them, they WILL rip you off if they have a chance. And I have vowed to make sure everyone knows it.

Wow this now pretty heavy. Clearly this dealer should be investigated!
